U-Haul Overcharged for rental by dishonestly tacking on parking fine, truck in very poor running condition consumer fraud ripoff Germantown Maryland
U-Haul dishonestly tacked on $25.00 for parking fine and they were unable to explain why exactly they had done so. This was their fine and not a fine imposed by surrounding businesses as they were contacted and asked about the matter. The truck was returned behind the u-haul and ice cream store - where signs indicated to park it and as eye-witnessed by myself and friend and as recommended by next door ice cream store owner.
The truck was in very bad condition - running very rough, check engine light on the whole time, seat lever not working as so would not go forward and we had to compensate for this. We had to brake hard to get vehicle to stop.
When contacted about the overcharge, I explained the situation and that we had returned the vehicle to the proper location. His only reply to this was "well, that's what ($25.00 fine) it's for". U-Haul attendant argued with me following this and then hung up the phone.
