I notice a charge on my banking statement that I did not authorize.

I called the toll free number and found out that it was a magazine company.

I had to call numerous times to get numerous magazines cancelled.

I did not consciously request any of these magazines.

I can only assume that I did it inadvertently.

I can also assume that somehow the company obtained my credit card number and took it upon themselves to order for me as I prefer not to read any of the magazines that I so called ordered!

I shop online frequently and try to use secure sites only.

I would really like to know what site furnished this unethical company my credit card number.

you have got to be kidding me as i am one of your"victims". I have never ordered a magazine in my life and feel it very insulting that younould blame the consumer and not you fraudulent use of our cc info and private info. You tred to charge my cc 117.00 which was denied (Thank god) case of insufficient funds which i just fi=ound out about after a call to my cc comp0 to see why my balance was so low. weel it turned out, it was your company pending a charge for $23.00 against the same acct. THIS IS FRAUD PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!! I want my name rmoved from your companys database as well as any cc numbers you may have. I called the 800 number spoke to a Maria and she guaranteed me all this would be taking care of. However, if it is not expect to her from my attorneys at KGGD.

I represent the company that you are mentioning in your report and work for them. We are a 3rd party magazine vendor based out of Stamford, CT with our processing center located in Salt Lake City, UT. All of our orders come from either internet providers, credit card companies, in-store promotions or TV Infomercials. There are many shopping sites online, the most frequent ones I usually deal with people calling to cancel are Bizrate.com, CCS.com, and Brylane.com Now, the only way we get magazine orders is when someone accepts the offer and on the internet when our offers do come up you do have to click the terms and conditions icon twice and if you do not read them terms then thats where it goes horribly wrong. All of our magazines are on continous service and we do send out reminder postcards 2 weeks before the scheduled bill date. Lots of people dont realize it when they do get our postcards because they come from us (the 3rd party) not the original party they ordered from, but it is important obviously to check all mail especially if your receiving magazines you said you didnt order. If you do not cancel before the reminder date, it does automatically renew, but again this was stated in the terms and conditions if they would of been read at the time of the order. I do not say this just because I want to protect the company, because I am a very honest person but honestly this is the only way we get our orders. I mean lots of people call in saying we have someone out there stealing credit card numbers and being fraudelent but trust me this is not happening. I would say over 60% our customers are elderly or just simply forgetful and do forget they order these things but trust me, this is the only way. Be careful out there and I hope this helps you the next you see something that may say 'FREE'
