I was looking at some travel through cheapoar and must have clicked on a cash rebate offer of 5% during my search in May 2017. Unbeknown to me this offer is a free trial offer for x days that then automatically signs you up for a subscription of 14.97 per month. I went through my history and found one email from them welcoming me - the last line of the email indicates that I have signed off for a free period that will convert to automatic charge. I find it unconscionable that this company continued to charge me with no further communication of any kind.

I think that they know that once they have someone sign up for this free period that the best way to maximise their payments is to never contact the individual again. It is my opinon that the lack of communicaiton from them from teh point of entry is intentional - that is they do not want to remind you that you have signed up for a subscription service. Do you know of a travel service company that would never send you emails again? I did send an email to them querying the charge this mroning and with no further communication they immediately cancelled my subscription. This is again an indication that they know they are not acting in good faith.

It is very common practice for any online companies nowadays to do this kind of "small print" thing. The damage could be reduced if you happened to make a mistake (by signing up with their service) by checking your credit/debit statement every month. There seem to be some people who never look at their statement but rather keep paying. This behavior should be changed.

One should be on a look out for oneself. Do not ever trust any online companies, period.
