My car was parked by Towne Park's valet service at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, VA.for three days. On the second day I noticed the right rear hubcap was missing. The valet said he would look for it. When I checked out the next day I asked about the hubcap and no one knew anything about it.

I filed a claim and was advised to submit the claim to my personal private passenger insurance carrier. The claim is for $59.70 and they know that no one would submit such a small claim to an insurance carrier.

That is bad, But you messed up by not getting a VDS done when you got it parked

I think this is terrible this is a great example of why I left the company. I feel for you. But it is as much your fault as it is theirs. When you take the fact that they are all lieing con-men out of the picture. They aren't responsible for damage to the vehicle while parked unless you have some form of proof that the vehicle had the cap when it went in, and that they had something to do with it missing when it came back. Anytime you get a car parked with a valet you need to insist on a Vehicle Damage Survey. I worked for Towne Park for awhile as a supervisor so I will tell you for a fact that the Contract Managers for each individual site has every interest in reducing the number of insurance claims and money paid out. And they are very good at hiding damage done to cars and denying responsibility. They have a lot of practice. Next time insist on the inspection, it is worth the 30 seconds when you think about the price of your car. In a perfect world the valet would apologize to you before you see the car and insist on having the company pay for it. But Towne Park does not operate in this perfect world. and I doubt any valet companies do.

Not trying to take sides but I'm almost positive on your valet stub it'll state: Not responsible for any damage (or something to that liking).

The way in which I was ripped off.

I was ripped off because I saw that the hubcap was on the car when I left it and not there when the car was returned. They could have verified this by looking at their security camera tapes. I realize that hubcaps come off all the time and yes, I have also seen them on the road, but in this case I was not "just checking out my car," the loss was obvious because I had to walk past the passenger side each time I picked up and delivered the car to the valet driver.

So how were you ripped off?

"When you noticed the cap missing," doesn't mean anything. It could have gone missing at any time previously, and you just happened to notice it because you were checking out your car. You do know that hubcaps come off all the time, dont you? Just watch along any roadway. Being in towing, I have stacks of them, from where I don't even know they just appear, and I give them away to whoever needs one. I bet all their owners think they were stolen too.
