When my son was 12 years old, he was playing at Dale Penn's Tounament of Destruction demolition derby event. He wrecked his quad and was severely injured. His right kidney shattered,  both lungs were lacerated,  tore his bronchial tube, lacerated his liver, broke his back, 9 ribs and his collarbone. It was an ongoing resuscitation all night the first night and touch and go for  two months after that.

Dale Penn and his wife Karen came to the hospital that first night. They were so worried! They told us that our family would never have to pay for entering the Tounament of Destruction again. Our family could go for free for life. I thought they were so nice.

My son had a long hard recovery and my 3 son's and my husband paid to enter and derby for Dale for years after, however, I could go in free. We accepted this and all was fine.

Then one derby, our team protested against Dale s sons car for cheating. His car was illegally reinforced. Dale s son, Ian Penn, was disqualified. Being that it was the promoters son, this angered Dale, so he suspended our team, Hook-n-Book, for one derby.

While on suspension, Dale changed the derby rules and we were no longer allowed to protest his sons car, or anyone's. An argument insued. Dale kicked everyone out who disagreed with him. It's a conflict of interest and unfair. We now protest his events. He recently took out restraining orders against some of the Hook-n-Book team. Court is coming up for that, but not before the next derby. We will be there picketing on the 20th and 21st. Maybe this time we will prevail.
