Former Seattle Mariner Tom Oldham who is now working at Mutual of Omaha Investment Services called me to ask security questions about my ira. Should have been my first red flag, but while on the phone, he asked me to meet for lunch the following day at a local sports bar DJ's Dugout to talk about investments and baseball, and I accepted. So the following day we meet for a beer and he goes right in for kill about betting on baseball. Not my cup of tea, but I decided to listen. He claims to have a huge track record with winning bets on baseball, and asks me for a $5,000 investment to start. He agrees to pay me at least 18% per month. It seemed to good to be true, and it was. I'll get to that in a minute. That night I receive an email that my ira was debited for $5,820. This is $820 more than we agreed. Plus I never signed anything.

A month goes by and I hear nothing from him. I finally called him at his office because he wouldn't return my calls or text messages. Tom threatened to kill me for calling his office and then left threatening voice mails which I took to the police. He would promise and promise my money would be returned. According to the detective handling the case they are investigating other similar incidents and a lawyer from Mutual of Omaha wants my lawyers information to make a settlement offer. It's unfortunate that someone with once so much potential has fallen to drug addiction, life of getting with slum motel hookers, and gambling addiction. I'll update this post after my settlement with Mutual of Omaha. Just be warned, stay away from Tom Oldham and Mutual of Omaha.

You can find some interesting information about investing and how some of Wall Street operates at this site by simply typing in 269041 and scrolling down to the consumer comment entitled "Blame it on a Lawyer" at Ripoff Report #269041 and reading it. It appears that the Harvard Business Professor was correct, wouldn't you agree?

Good luck to you!
