During a vacation in fort lauderdale, fl a couple months ago I rented a car from Thrify Rental Car. If we rented a car from an off airport location then we got a much better deal. So, we did, took a cab from the airport to the first location that we were sent to. When we arrived, the employee tried to talk us into a Dodge Charger instead of the Sebring convertible that we were quoted for due to the fact that they had no convertibles at the location. After refusing to settle for anything but the convertible we had planned for our sunny vacation we were sent in a Charger to another location to pick up a convertible. Thank God I had lived in Fort Lauderdale for a year and could find my way pretty easily. When arriving at the new location we were notified that there was no Sebring at that location either and we would have to take a Mustang Convertible (Not a big deal to me).

Finally an hour later we were off to our vacation. Also at the first location we were notified the insurance I wasn't sure about purchasing on the internet is alot more expensive on site if I wanted it. It increased my bill by 100 dollars instead of approx 60 it would have been on the internet site. Then I was asked if I wanted to return the car to the airport location, after saying yes another 13 or so dollars was added to my bill.

When returning the car to the airport, we arrived 10 minutes early only to find a 12 dollar fee on our bill for an extra hour because it took their employees 15-20 minutes to scan the bar code on the window. I asked about the extra fee added and before I could even get the sentence out they said no problem we'll take that off. (Which I don't think ever came off the bill, I must dig through my receipts and check.) Obviously they take their good old time scanning cars in and charge lots of extra hours at 12 dollars a person.

This must add up to tens of thousands monthly and was brushed off so easily it is obviously done alot, question is how many times is it missed by unsuspecting customers? After being told the charge would be removed the man told me his printer never works so he can't give me a receipt to prove it. I then took it amongst myself to go stand in line inside and request a receipt, no surprise their printers inside at rental counter worked. Not a together company at all. Hopefully other states thrifty rental car co. are more customer friendly.
