After reading numerous reports on the Cobra Group, I read with interest and feel that I may be able to shed some light on the Cobra Group and what they do.
Like many others, I was taken for dinner on my interview, made to feel special, was told nothing about commission and promised I'd be earning in excess of 50,000 within a year...
A lot of lies...
I got promoted to Assistant Owner in the office I was operating in, did okay in the field but the field was never really something I enjoyed... my owner though would often say "don't worry, you won't be in the field for much longer... and then you can sit in an office all day while all your minions go out and make you big money"...
Well, that seemed a great idea... he would set us tasks like designing our own office and indicating what luxuries we wanted in our office!
This is what the Cobra Group is like and for people on the outside looking in, its plainly obviously that you're being brain washed, but for those involved, it's easy to be taken in...
Imagine... from day one being told...
- You will succeed in this company
- This is a great opportunity
- Watching your owner take a fat wad of 50 notes out of his pocket
- Being able to design your own office
- Being taken to big conferences full off people you've seen in magazines, meeting them, listening to their wonderful stories
When you are so firmly and confidently told "I have so much faith in you, you're going to do really well, you're my top leader, you're the best person in my office" you cannot help to be slightly excited...
And, to cap it all off, when your owner says "I'm taking you to Portugal for a week on the R&R for doing so well" and "you're so far ahead of others I'm taking you to an owners weekend to show you what the big boys do" you think wow, I'm doing really well for myself.
The R&R (Rest and Relaxation) is a big even for Cobra Offices from all around the world to meet and listen to speaches from Vice Presidents, Chris Niarchos etc...
The reality of it was, in England I could barely afford to live, so I spent a week in a 5 star hotel... begging food off of people and trying to get other people to pay.. and the thing is.. I wasn't alone... my friends were the same too.
So, it's easy to understand why I was so excited about the company...
The truth is.. I was sucked in, I had been done... hook, line and sinker! No two ways about it... I would take observations out and lie to them... tell them I had made 400.00 already this week (on a Wednesday!!!) when in fact... I had probably only made 80.00!
I would tell observations what they wanted to hear, so that they would start and then earn me money and count towards my target.
I remember once my owner telling me to take my guys on a roadtrip for a week... but my guys were skint... so I ended up paying for the whole trip... my VISA was maxed... the week cost me 800.00 for 4 guys.
A week away from home... I made little money... it was awful.
For over a year... I spent Monday - Friday getting up at 7am, leaving at 8:00. getting into the office for 9am and not leaving until 10pm... then I would have to take my guys out for a drink... act like I had loads of money... buy them drinks... and not leave until midnight.
That's a long day! For a year... I spent no time with my friends... and Cobra was the only life that I had. I lived with people from Cobra, I went drinking with them, I spent hours on the phone to them... and as much as I am ashamed to say it... I slept with them.
My owner at one point even told me it was a great idea to hire women and take them out on observations just for the $ex... Looking back... I can see what Cobra did to me... I found it so difficult finding a job after... thinking that I would never be successful in any other jobs because for a year... that's all I had been told.
I lost jobs... I tried to get my feet under the table so many times.
A year and a bit later... I'm back on my feet, I am now setting up my own business... I can afford luxuries like a nice car... I have a mortgage... I'm getting married next year and I'm really happy.
But after Cobra... it took a long time to get to that stage.
Please people... if you're thinking of joining the Cobra Group... don't! It will mess your life up, you wont be able to afford to live. People calling me negative who are working for Cobra now, that's whats what you're taught to say... a comparison to i-Robot is not too far from reality.
Cobra tell you all the time... think outside the box... don't be narrow-minded... so do it.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX... Rather than trying to work it out with everything going off around you step back and look at it from the outside, work things out.
