On 9/12/11 I had a new
starter put in my car.The owner and mechanic at Texaco,Mark,(I found out later)never checked the old starter to make sure it needed replacing.I picked up the car that day and drove it a block and a half home. When I tried to start it again, within 10 minutes of turning it off it would not crank.I called Texaco and Mark walked down to look at it.After looking and checking wires he told me he had no idea why it wouldnt start,he thought it sounded like the gas wasn't getting to where it needed to be and recommended another mechanic up the street(Shell station).I had to pay and have the car towed and was told he could get to it on 9/13/11.When Charles(from Shell) called on 9/13 the car was ready,he said that a line had been pinched(in his opinion done while the starter was being changed)and this was causing the fuses to blow and no gas.I was charged 201.59 for his service.(I had just paid 343.00 for the new starter). We are a 1 car family with kids and had to do without a car for two and a half days,I feel like like this owner and mechanic Mark should ONLY be doing oil and lube jobs if he is unable to adequately work on other areas.Especially if he refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes!!
Thank you for your time!

If "Mark" were truly a mechanic, he wouldn't be making low wages at

a lube spot at Texaco.

Was the "mechanic" designation yours or Mark's?

Gas stations, Walmart, Sears, Pep Boys, Midas and others with non-certified "mechanics" should be avoided for anything beyond the basics, such as oil changes, tire changes, battery replacement and similar tasks.

The employees of these companies usually have little to no formal training and minimal supervision.

Sorry it cost so much to get the starter replaced.
