Complaint Review: Terminex - Lake Mary Florida

Terminex and the sentricon system should be on your list of scams...It promises the elimination of the termite colony but it is not even a diversion...after seeing your report on Orkin and doing some investigation (I too am having a servere termite problem even though under a contract with Terminex) my partner and I am being dismissed by the lake Mary office ( they never followed up on a swarm we had in our house) and now a year later we could not sell our house due to termite infestation...

Terminex in the Lake Mary office is run by former employees of Orkin who, I found after reading articles on the Orkin scandal, were under deposition in some cases against Orkin and described unscrupulous acts against the customers and now they are practicing the same with Terminex customers of which we are victims!!!

When we bought our house in October of 2002 it is written that the contract was contingent upon the termite bond being transferable, we have faxes on Terminex letter head asking for a transfer fee...in 3/03 we had a termite swarm in the house to which we called Terminex and the tech told us not to worry....

on a Terminex re inspection report it even has this noted...they followed up 5 to 8 weeks later and told us he gave us the wrong information and that this was serious but never followed up or treated the house...between 5/03 and 5/04 the house was monitored but nothing was ever done about the swarm, in 5 /04 we were under contract to sell our house and the contract fell through due to termite infestation and carpenter ant activity...

now after a year and a half Terminex will not honor the contract because they said our bond was never transferable so they held our check!!!! they never let us know about this and now claim since they never deposited the check our bond is null and void.....we never heard anything from Terminex regarding this check or the bond not being transferable until a year and half later...when we asked for a copy of the check, they never produced it.

When we asked to review our file, the file mysteriously has disappeared. (but they are well informed about our house etc...but they cant seem to find the file)...and we thought we were covered. Terminex serviced our house up until 3/04...we have a year and half of service receipts when the tech came to monitor the system; but we were not customers? they came to see the swarm; but we were not customers? but when asked why they never treated the swarm they said we were not customers but we only found this out 18 months later and the loss of the sale of our home....sound crazy but it is true...

the general manager was a previous Orkin employee who describes all the suspicious dealings at Orkin and now is at Terminex doing the same thing and we have news articles that quote him!!! and the manager who came to follow up on the swarm is another former Orkin employee!!! so now we are stuck and would love for you to investigate...

there was work done to repair a bathroom in our house after the sale by Terminex too and no building permits were taken out on the property and the area was never treated for termites!!!!! Sound familiar?
