They need to kill the Pest, Not the Pet

On Monday, August 7, 2006 between the hour of 1:00 P.M & 1:20 P.M. A Terminex truck entered into my back yard un-announced, by-passed my front door, drove the truck directly into my back yard as if they lived here. The driver ran over a puppy and killed it. I didn't call the police or anything, I threw away the dead puppy with out thinking, (out of anger). I was hoping to settle the matter with the company, like adults. So, I've been back and forward since August 7, 2006 about someone replacing the puppy. I found out today August 11, 2006, that they feel like they are not responsible for the death of the puppy or may I say my property, because I threw away the puppy and got the blood stains up. If you are wondering what kind of puppy it was, it was a Blue American Pit Bull Terrier (6) six weeks old. If, someone can give me some advise on how to handle this matter the right away, please post something below.

I'm very sorry that the puppy got ran over also, but the puppy was in my back yard on a leash and the driver had no business at my residence, let alone in my back yard, my back yard leads no where. Also, pit bulls are outstanding pets. This is the only mishap that I've had with a pit bull after owning pit bulls since 1983. We can not blame the pit bulls or any other animal for deed that's beyond their powers. Because of uneducated breeders and uneducated dog owners, making dogs fight, because if someone keep hit on you, after awhile you will strike back. People mistreat them for them to respond in the bad way that they do. That's just like putting a gun in the hands of known arm robber, but yet in still people change. Most of all, business should be conducted at the front door, not at the back unless other wise you have a persons permission to do so.

Bernard, I know what it feels like to have a pet killed. I am an animal lover and that upsets me. However, there are some issues that need to be discussed. The first being that I exclude Pit Bulls from the "pet" category. Just my opinion from personal experience with them. I would have called the police immediately and filed a report as well as the pest control company management to come to the scene. This should have been done immediately. A six week old puppy should not be left unattended anyway. Was the dog on a leash if not in a fenced in area? Why not? Was this pest control company doing your place for the first time or have they been doing it on a regular basis? Did you let them know you had a dog? Most of what I'm saying here is that the proper care and protection of a pet is the owner's responsibility. To me, a pet is a family member, not a piece of property that can be "replaced". Food for thought.

Stop buying dogs that have a 100% chance of attacking and maiming/killing someone, including their owners. As for the exterminator, have they explained why the driver drove through your yard? I find it very odd that the guy would just decide he wanted to take a shortcut through your backyard.
