Complaint Review: Tax Shoppe - Port St Lucie Florida

I would like to address how un professional with the lack of customer respect and customer service The Tax Shop owners Joe and Richard Edge have displayed to us. We had our joint tax returns done 1/2018 by Richard Edge for our 2017 taxes. A friend recommended them to us. We went over our entire situation and our Tax credit from 2008, The Obama First Time home Buyers Tax Credit. Richard even commented on how we only have a couple of years left to pay on this. Well 3 months later I get a letter that several mistakes have been made on my 2017 tax returns. I had and outstanding balance to pay of $506 including penalties.

I contacted Joe on 5/29/2018 at the Tax Shop to go over it. I explained I received the letter from the IRS of an outstanding balance because of the miscalculations and mistakes they have made on my very simple 2017 tax return. Well Joe’s head must have spun around, he became extremely defensive, arrogant and abrasive at that very minute. I guess he gets a lot of these calls. He started out with aggressively saying, just tell me what the letter says!  I started to read what the content of the letter said about the mistakes that were made, and he yelled just send the letter to me like I was a child. I stopped him and told him, don’t ever yell at me you speak to me in a respectful and professional manor I’m a 48-year-old man. There are few things done wrong by The Tax Shop listed from the IRS, mind you this was just a few W2’s file married with 0 across the board. SIMPLE!! The problem is they messed up in several sections and didn’t apply the first-time home buyer credit. He punched in numbers in like 5 minutes and asked a few questions. FOLKS THEY ARE NOT ACCOUNTANTS!!!

I faxed the letter to Joe and followed up with him 1 -1/2 later. He once again yelled, I just got it and you are pissing me off!!!  OMG I replied excuse me first or all calm down they list the things you did wrong just fix it and let me know what steps we have to take going forward. I told him, I take the IRS letter very seriously. Joe Edge slammed the phone down in my ear. I called back immediately and he screamed I will call you when I figure it out and slammed the phone on me again. Disgusting way to handle your paying customers. I don’t know who this guy thinks he is. I gave him 3 days to cool off when it should be me as the one to be upset LOL.

I called in on 5/31/2018 and the man who answered said Joe Edge is out of the country LIE AGAIN!!! I nicely asked if anyone was looking at my situation? He replied I looked at it and you didn’t tell us about the home buyers credit and you are responsible for that. Well we did and we even have a copy of the home buyers credit paperwork we handed to you, you made a copy and handed the form back.  Again 100% total LIE!!! I then said just refund me the $195 you charged us. He said that’s not going to happen sorry.

These guys are disgusting. All they do is punch #’s in a software program they are not CPA’s. If they make mistakes they go on the defense knowing altimetry it’s your responsibility to pay and they will tell you that. I have spoken to a friend about this yesterday and she asked me is this Joe on Bayshore in PSL? I said yes, she laughed and said he screwed up my aunt’s taxes, 2 of my friends and 2 police officers that I know of. These guys are HACKS!!! They screwed up tax returns for a living.  Its funny how Richard joked that H&R Block stands behind you if they make a mistake. He laughed at that meanwhile they made quite a few and won’t admit or even offer to return your money. DO NOT go to these guys, they are like rude used car salesmen. Just go to H&R Block because they would never handle or talk to a customer like this. H&R Block will also fix their mistakes at no charge and their price points are the same. Lesson well learned
