I purchased a DVD player "Trutech", it was defective, and I am sure the manufacturer knows, because the prerecorded message stated the accurate malfunction, "Wrong Disk". though I threw the reciept away. The Target Store has Video Cameras, and gave me a copy of the transaction taken from the register, though they would not exchange or return the money. this is an obvious ripoff, as all the proof is and has been established. I made a copy of the reciept, and have it to show anyone who is attempting to aid consumers.

Discrimination???

And what exactly constitutes "discrimination" per your claim in your title? You did not have your receipt. Therefore you could not return the item. Plain and simple. The rest of your story makes no sense at all. If Target is able to locate your receipt in their system, they will allow the return. Something else must have been wrong with the DVD player (i.e., maybe it was abused or damaged after leaving the store) for Target to not allow the return. You are obviously not telling the whole story here.

Anytime a DVD player can not read a disk it will give that error message. So the company would not know it is defective. I hope you thought of trying another disk first. How did you pay for it? If it was by Check, Debit, Credit, or Gift Card they can look up the receipt and will return/exchange it. Target actually has one of the best return policies, IF you have proof of your purchase. So there must be more to this story. They would not go through all of the effort to give you a "copy" of your receipt but then not allow you to return or exchange it. If they did in fact give you a copy of the receipt what keeps you from going to another Target and using that proof to return the item. Since you are in San Jose I bet there are at least a few Targets in your immediate area.
