We here at T.Horzen Refrigerated Transport take DOT regulations very seriously. We do not require our drivers to go over their hours of service, nor do we encourage it. We provide safe, comfortable, well maintained trucks to our drivers and take every action necessary to keep them in top condition.
Hotrod's alligations of forcing him to exceed his 14 hours, and putting him in a day cab for 40 solid hours, are unfounded. We would be more than happy to look at any proof, but as of now, none has been provided.
Drivers know when they take an OTR position, they may not make it home every day. That is a part of the job that every OTR driver both loves and hates at the same time. Any driver we hire is made well aware of the scheduleing before signing on. That being said, we would not put an OTR driver in a day cab for more time than absolutely necessary, and never beyond the legal drive time limits. If a driver does have cause to use a truck without a sleeper for a long trip, we ALWAYS provide a accomodations in order to insure adequate rest. We do what we can to schedule service around a driver's schedule. But as safety is a top priority, sometimes it is unavoidable that a driver be in a day cab for more than one day. Our safety rating is proof of our dedication to both our drivers and our customers.
