DONT BE FOOLED by www.swipebids.com a.k.a. www.swipeauctions.com a.k.a. www.swipebidscs.com (etc.) If it sounds too good to be true(then it isnt true)

After a quick look into the BBB regarding the aforementioned penny auction site, I found all I needed to know to stay well away from them and whatever you do, do NOT give them your credit card information. This is a public service announcement that hopefully will keep your hard-earned money in your pocket and out of these scam site owners flush bank account. Please see below the directly quoted remarks from the Better Business Bureau.

Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to a pattern of complaints. The complaints concerned product issues, delivery issues, refund issues, and customer service issues. The BBB Contacted the company in an attempt to address the issues, however, the company has failed to correct the underlying reason for the complaints.

There is plenty more on BBB, but the paragraph above is short and simple to understand and I am only so happy I looked into it before jumping into the scam.

Found this on Hubpages...This is good news, I guess all the complaints helped. It seems they have changed or are going to change the refund policy so those who did not intend on paying the registration fee, or do not like the site can get a refund. This is fair. I am sure there will still be complaints by those who do not understand that this a really gambling and not shopping like Ebay..but it's a start. It seems there are some people winning stuff at a great deal...but I hope people realize for each winner...there were losers who were paying to bid and that money is forever gone down the drain.

SwipeAuctions Makes It Easy For Customers To Get Refunds

By SwipeAuctions

SwipeAuctions, a leader in the penny auction marketplace, today announced a simplified way for customers to properly take advantage of their money back guarantee.

The company might be the only penny auction website that offers customers a refund if they sign up in error, or discover that penny auctions are not to their personal taste.

Nearly all requests for refunds are the result of customer misunderstanding, the company said, and they are happy to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

SwipeAuctions officials say that they have done everything in their power to make refund requests as simple and easy to initiate as possible.

All the customer has to do is click on the Money Back Guarantee link on the SwipeAuctions.com home page or go to SwipeRefund.com.

Once there, the customer simply needs to click on the large download button in the center of the page. They will then have access to a refund form to download and print out.

Due to fraud protection and SwipeAuctions' banking controls, customers need to fill out and sign the refund form, and mail it. Once the company receives it, the refund will be processed.

Under the terms of the guarantee, anyone who has paid for a membership is eligible for a refund.

This new refund process replaces the old system, where people were required to use up all of their bids before they could ask for their money back. The company said they decided that they did not need to ask customers to place bids if they had signed up for the site in error.

SwipeAuctions is a penny auction site. Once people sign up for membership they buy blocks of bids that they can spend on auctions. Every time a bid is placed, the price of the auction goes up by one cent and time is added to the clock. The last person to place a bid purchases the winning product at a deep discount.

Simplifying the refund system is part of SwipeAuctions ongoing goal of having the highest rated customer service record in the penny auction industry.

The site claims 1000's of prizes won every day. So the link shows a few. Oh maybe the shipping companies are legit..but I read some reports that swipebids it not always so legit.

I would imagine once in a while someone will win..I mean swipebids stands to make thousands and thousands of dollars on a nice item if you figure out the number of bids and price per bid..but hey..if people choose to shop this way more power to them.

Lets check the link to the tracking...notice all very recent, how convenient.

Lets check the most expensive item "won", the Cannon camera.

PRODUCT:
Canon EOS Rebel + 1000 Bids

This page is a list of some past winners, the nice thing about this page is you are able to click on the tracking numbers provided and they will take you to the appropriate shipping company (UPS, USPS, Canada Post) and provide all the tracking details up until delivery. Fortunately you cannot create a false tracking number through such reputable companies.

I would be more then happy to assist in any concerns you may have. Please contact me personally at [email protected], please include your first/last name, user name, email linked to your account and link connected to this post.

Help with dealing with swipeactions.com aka swipebids.com

I am sorry this happened to you. I can provide some suggestions that may help.

1. Dispute the charge with VISA rather than fill out forms by the Merchant. Insist that you dispute the charge. State your understanding honestly. Tell VISA they used to be called swipebids. You will get assistance. VISA needs to know as the more honest complaints come in, the better the chance to termination of Merchant account. Cutting off the money flow solves the problem too.

2. On last look, swipeauctions/swipebids wanted to use the legal system in Alberta, Canada. Alberta has strong consumer legislation. So, read the "Fair Trading Act" located at:

(((Redacted)))

For a contract to be legal in Alberta, the business must supply an address in the Contract. If not, the contract is VOID as if it never happened. You have a time limit though so do it fast! Read about your rights to reverse charges too. This is a good read. YOU DO NOT FILL OUT MERCHANT FORM!

3. Contact Service Alberta and file a complaint here: (((Redacted)))

Service Alberta will investigate and are great to deal with. Tell them your story honestly. Also ask them if buying bids is the same as buying lottery tickets. Tell them you didn't see a lottery license. They will look into this too.

4. If your credit card statement shows your money goes to an Offshore Account (Belize/Costa Rica), contact CCRA (Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.) They look into all companies running offshore accounts. Go to the BBB and type in Swipebids. There you will get up-to-date information on the present owner and location as well as company number/name.

Go here for details: (((Redacted)))

5. Go to (((Redacted))) Search "swipeauctions". This will tell you where the swipeauctions server is located. On last check, it was in Sherwood Park, AB. Keep this as proof of location. Perhaps share that with the contacts you made as well.

Without being redundant, read the entire string on ripoff report located below. There, you will see swipeauctions/swipebids TOS, multiple addresses, etc. to assist you in gaining a bigger picture.

Best of Luck! I hope this helps!
