Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I purchased my vehicle in March of 2017. My fiancé was put on my loan as a co-signer and then on my title. Only his license had been revoked for 5 years at the time and will be for a total of 9. This December I filed to renew my tag and I am now unable to until my fiancé is taken off of the title. I called my finance company Ally Fiancial they said they will not release the document I need to take my fiance off the title unless I pay the balance of my loan off in full nor would they allow me to try and finance with a different co-signer so I was able to take him off of title that way. So I called the dealership Stingray Chevrolet they gave me the run around for a week and then said there was nothing they could do, my only choice was to come purchase a new vehicle through them and this time they will not list my finance on the title. They were extremely rude and very unwilling to be helpful or work with me knowing they should have never put him on the title in the first place. I am now without a job and vehicle and have children this is our only vehicle as I previously mentioned I'm the only one with a valid license. I am now making payments on a vehicle I can not drive or get my tagged renewed on which will end up resulting in me having to turn my tag in cancelling my insurance and defaults my loan leaving me with a voluntary repo on a vehicle I want and have not missed or been late on a payment with ever. Not to mention what effect it has on my credit and overall life in general. A "mistake" that was made on purpose by people who refuse to help fix it. This was our first car buying expierence as adults and we trusted in this Company and the sales and financial department to help us not hurt us and leave us in this type of hardship.

Not a Mistake

First off when a person is a Co-Signer to a loan they are also required to be on the title as part owner. It doesn't matter what lender you are with, this will always be the case.  So if your fiance is a Co-Signer there was no mistake on him being on the title. As for getting him off, again the loan is secured by the title to the car. The only way you will get him off the title is to pay off the loan, again this is STANDARD. If you can't pay it off on your own, then you will need to refiance the car to try and get your fiance off the original one.

As for registering, in most states a person with a suspended license has no issues in owning a car, they just can't drive it. But since you seem to be in Florida there seem to be specific rules about people with suspended licenses. In certain situations a person with a suspended license may not be able to register or renew a registration. So one has to wonder how you got the vehicle registered originally in this situation, as from what the law appears the State of Florida should never have allowed the original registration. Did his situation change?

But even IF the State made a mistake and allowed the car to be registered, unfortunatly you can't change the laws and just because it was done by mistake originally, doesn't mean that they have to now allow you to registert it or make any other exceptions.

Perhaps you should consult an attorney to see if you can get his status to a point to allow you to register the car, because a 9 year Suspended License would mean that not only did he do something really bad. But it is very likely he would have been given all the rules about the suspended license and would have been told about this law.

Good Luck
