I was contacted by Stephen Vicinanza from JK Irons to edit two technical manuscripts. He offered me $1 per page and promised payment in 30 days from completion. 30 days came and went. Then it was 60 days. There was always a story about "waiting to be paid" and "check will be sent next week." All lies. First project was $216. I stupidly took another assignment for $164 and got the runaround again. More promises of payment. Stories about waiting for payments to come in. All lies. I called him out on being a liar and scam artist, and he gave me some story about how he'd never scam or lie to anyone. Sent various emails requesting payments. Told him I was reporting him to employment sites and that I'd be filing a small claims against him, which I intend to do.

I may never see this money but writers and editors beware. It is scam.

While Stephen Vicinanza eventually did pay, it took more than a year and several attempts to even get him to respond to emails. My interaction was always professional and never included profanity, but I did accuse him of being a scammer because, frankly, when you are told that payment will be "next week" or "sending payment today" and it takes more than a year, you look like a con artist.

Having run a business myself and having had clients who failed to pay when they said they would, I understand how frustrating that can be, but I always paid my employees. I took the hit and waited to be paid, but I always made sure anyone who did work for me got what they were owed.

If you continue to hire editors and writers for your business, you would do well to ensure they are paid in full in a timely fashion while you chase your debtors. People not paying you should not be the problem of your contractors. It is your problem. Your freelancers did what they were hired to do and should be paid accordingly. Full stop.

I have certainly agreed to all the requirements of this website, but it should be noted that the complainant in this situation uses innuendo and rumor. All outstanding payments have been made - I worked for Macmillan Publishing Solutions (India) MPS Limited, and they were having problems paying us.

As a small organization, we ran into some problems getting money out to our contractors. As soon as the money came in it went out to the contractors - in full - it should be noted that we received complaints and threatening letters from the same few people - every day.

In large letters and with profanity. Not responding to threats or constant demands in all caps that I am a horrible person does not make that true. We still do editing, have connections in the United States and Overseas, have paid all interested parties and would be glad to respond to any legitimate request for information about our business practices.

Simply put we are small, had a problem, and rather than put money into the company we paid everyone. If that is being dishonest than maybe we need to say - so be it. I will not place my records here - but I would be happy to provide references and records of all our business dealings with RipOff Report at any time.
