Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have lived in Nevada since 1997 or 1998, I have a clean driving record and have always paid my registration and renewed my license on time.

March 31 is when I must renew my lic, i recieved the reminder in the mail as I always have for years saying its time to renew.  I noticed that for some reason I was not able to renew on line so i called in

This happened aroundt the first of march., The DMV told me that i had a bad debt and they said thats why i could not renew on line. So they transferd me to Kate in the Bad Debt dept.  She told me that I had an NSF CHECK for Chris Michaels from the YEAR 2000  ( 10 years ago !!)  I asked her why do I owe mone for him, she told me it was for his registration on HIS CAR.   I asked her why do i owe money on someone elses car, she said because I wrote the check.  AT first i thought i had wrote this check because I had a freind back then that i helped out that I am no longer in contact iwth .  Later I discovered that its not my freind Chirs becasue its a different last name, i still disputed this because she told me that this other chris paid his registration when the check was retrned anyways so i had disputed the fact that they are collecting TWICE on tihs one guys car .

SHe told me I owe over $700 and they turned it over to a collection agency, in San Diego .  I complained that this i s not my debt to many people over a few weeks, Taling to the GOVENORS OFFICE and a woman there named JUDY .  They all give me the run around and lie about how they want to help and then send me a letter in the mail saying they will do nothing for me.

The DMV laughed at me when I told them I would lose my job if I lost my drivers license., I also explained that I am in the process oftrying to save my home from foreclosure anddo not havethe money, i told her that i spend my house payment money on the bogus fee that I woujld lose my home and my job because I am in trying to save my family and home and job from being homeless,   thats when she laughed at me

I called a few more times , each time geting a new story and finally someone admited to me that the check was NOT NSF but it was STOP PAYMENT .  Over and over again the told me I owe the money. THEY say now the reason that I owe the money is because this guy had the same address as i do. This may be true since that old address on DECATURE is a mail box etc..address where hundreds of people rent mail boxes. I also told her than nobody in my life ever lived at that address wtih the name chris

SO they will nothelp me , i have no idea what to do. Each agency tells to go to awebsite and file a complaint , so hear I am writing this complaint and guessing as usuall nobody can do anything

I wrote a complaint to my own govenor and even his office gives me bullsh*t

The first thing I would do in your situation is demand proof from the DMV and from the collection agency, that the NSF check exists, i.e. a photocopy of the check.

The second thing I would do is contact my local(state) congress representative and unemotionally explain the facts, that you cannot get verified proof, and that you quickly need help in this matter.  Even if the check is real, and you are the person who posted the check (not someone who stole your identity), there should be a statute of limitations (I'm guessing here) on this type of crime, criminal and civil, that has long since passed.

My understanding of the law, in my state, is the privilege to drive is suspended indefinitely until the collection agency provides proof to DMV that the issue is resolved.

Your representative is the person who can get this issue cleared up the quickest.

hi, if you say as you do, the DMV has turned over to collection AGENCY

then DMV has no longer an intrest, so why in your "story" do you keep saying DMV called you in to "bad debt" department????

DMV is suspending your license for a debt you "owe" to a private collection agency in san deigo,,,,as you state?????

what the DMV, governer or any other state agency has to do with a debt from a san deigo private business (collection agency)

if what you say is true, and i find hard to think so with your "turned over to collection agency in san deigo" this "NSF" fee from 10 years ago is way past the statute of limitations, this is a legal time frame the courts set for "collecting"

in california is:

 Oral agreements: 2 years
Written contracts: 4 years
Promissory notes: 4 years
Open accounts (such as credit cards): 4 years

tell the collection agency , you no longer wish to receive any contact from them, no phone, no letters, no visits

is federal law, they must discontinue to contact you, if the "collection agency in san deigo" feels they have a case (remember this is way past statue of limitations) then they will sue in small claims

the collection agency has  many expense to sue you, lawyers, process servers, court fee and time spent in court, they know the statue of limatitions and will just drop the issue

"collection agency's" are typically a sleeze ball , court house hanging around, greasy faces, balding, unethical and opertunistic LAWYER scum buckets

the collection lawyers buy "bad debt" in large lots for pennys on the dollar, then try to collect

the more debt from the purchased pennys on the dollar "list" the lawyer can collect, the more the lawyer makes

for instance, scumbag collection lawyer buys $250,000 "bad debt" from california DMV for $2453.34, the "list " is quarter million in bad DMV checks that are over the statur of limations, DMV knows....scumbag lawyer knows...............the scumbag lawyer negotiated the price from $5250 as these types of humans fight for every stinking penny

now the scumbag lawyer "works" the list, either calling him or HER self the names on the "bad debt" list. trying to scare and bully uneducated ind ingnorant consumers such as yourself into paying what is truely not owed

do as i say, tell the collection, no more contact, eucate your ingnorant self about debt collection in your state and stand your ground,....NO MORE CONTACT

i still do not belive you because of your twisting DMV into this, saying they suspended your license or regestration.....i think you lie, asking myself...is this person any different than the self serving , scumbag lawyers that hang around the county courthouse
