I, personally have no sympathy for you. Do you balance your check book? Does your bank notify you when you write a bad check? Is the company just supposed to eat the cost of having to hunt you down to pay for a $4.00 check??? I work in check/bad debt collections, and I know for a fact that you get at least 60 days before the check is sued (sometimes MUCH longer). What is your excuse for failure to pay? Not in the country??? How can you not afford to pay $34.00 to right yourself, but can travel out of the country? We do have very strict check laws here, and that is because businesses are taking a huge hit with people stealing (yes I consider it stealing when services/products were recieved and never paid for) and this is their only way to protect themselves. Here is a hint for you, call the attorney's office and try to make arrangements,as this debt will not just disappear.

It's bad enough Kansas has a 'country-hick' type reputation. But you make us out to be really bad. At least you could've used a spell-checker. "Polotition?" Politician "Carfull?" Careful.... Having a checking account is not that bad. However, if you do get into this type of situation, you won't go to jail. When a bank or business tries to collect through legal action, you will get a notice to appear in court. Which when you get there, is just a bunch of lawyers sitting at tables and you sit down with the lawyer who's handling your case and figure out a repayment plan. It takes 20-30 minutes tops. This is how it works in Topeka. Although, it might be different in your city. Most often if you don't appear in 'court' the judgement would go directly to the business you owe. Never heard of anyone going to jail. It sounds like you got a a**hole for a lawyer. Maybe you should just get a savings account. It's a lot less hassle.
