Complaint Review: Star Island Resort - Kissimmee Florida

My wife and I purchased a time share with Orange Lakes of Kissimmee, Fl and stayed there for 3 days while on vacation. We were approached by Star Island Resorts to look at their resort and they told us they could give us a better deal. Star Island, Thomas Marchetta and Hank Fernandez, informed us of the 10 day grace period of being able to end the contract with all money that we had giving Orange Lakes would be returned to us with no hassle, so at that time my wife and I discussed it and we said to ourselves if they could better the deal we would buy from Star Island and cancel the contract with Orange Lakes since we were going to get our money back from Orange Lake. Needless to say we recieved a credit to our credit card for less then all the money we put into Orange Lake, after contacting Orange Lake they said that they deducted for the time spent there, after we were told by Star Island that all money would be giving back to us with no hassle, no where in the contract with Orange Lake or any verbal understanding with them were we told that if we canceled the contract that we would have to pay for the room. All money that we put into Orange Lake was a down payment. After contacting Orange Lake and getting that information, we contacted Star Island to ask them about it since they were the ones that told us that we would get all money back. After repeated phone calls to Star Island and no return phone calls we wrote them a letter, then we finally got a phone call from Hank Fernandez on Feb 14th saying that he was not sure about that but he would look into it and get back with us, my wife and I were very frustrated at that time so she asked Hank if we could get out of the contract and if they could resell the time share and he replied that they did not resell that we had to contact First Continental Coorporation, so she asked him for the number and he said that he did not have it. Hank then offered us a one week cruise or a one week stay at Star Island for our troubles which she declined. She proceeded to call

fo for that area and the number giving to her was right back to Star Island. We tried contacting Hank again and recieved no return phone calls, so we proceeded to write a second letter then recieved a phone call from Tom Marchetta on Feb 20th. My wife explained to him the problems we had with getting our money from Orange Lakes and that some of the things they had told us prior to signing the contract with them was in fact untrue, such as the maintenance fees and property taxes could be written off, but after contacting an accountant, that in fact is not true, we should told him that his reply was that he did not know that, but if we found a good accountant that he maybe able to figure something out. She then asked him about First Continental Corp and he said that he did not know their number and did not know that the number from information was a number to Star Island, in fact they both have the same address. He said that in fact he did not even know for sure who the lein holder was. He gave my wife a phone number Fred (no last name given) and to give him a call on the 21st of Feb. Then Tom offered us a one week cruise and a one week stay at Star Island. My wife called this Fred on the 21st of Feb (this morning) and got more of a run around, she explained to him all the problems we were having, he replied that they had a binding contract, my wife then asked him for First Continental Corps phone number so we may deal with them one on one and he said get a lawyer and let him figure it out. He also stated to deal with the sales person and see if they would resell, which we were told by Hank that they do not re sell them.
