Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I booked a flight on Jan 10, 2007 for a trip to Grand Cayman on May 1, 2007. Returning May 7, 2007. There was a connecting flight in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The confirmation e-mail said to confirm and reserve seats a week in advance of the flight.

I went to their website to confirm and reserve seats.....only to find they put our connection in Ft. Lauderdale as a 2 day stop and booked us to come home a day early. Leaving us with 2 full days in Grand Cayman.

I immediately looked up a phone number and called the airlines. The woman on the phone sounded like it was a horrible situation to have put us in and apologized and talked with her supervisor to correct the situation. She said customer relations would call me the next day. To correct the flight changes, they were going to fly us out on 4/30---Grand Cayman destination at 12:30pm that day and home on 5/6-----ATL destination at 10pm in the evening.

As irritated as I was that no one had contacted me and made their own changes. I felt much better when I was going to have the same amount of days in Grand Cayman as planned and the trip was only a day earlier. I also assumed that they would do something for us for the royal screw up....maybe pay the $25 cancellation hotel fee.....SOMETHING.

So, the next day at 4:30 (office closes at 5:00). "Customer Relations" still hadn't called. I called Spirit Airlines back. I had to go through the whole spill again with another person and my flight changes decided the previous night were NOT actually CHANGED......the same 2 day Cayman Island trip was in their system.

The woman on the phone this time offered nothing, AGAIN, for their screw ups.....other than changing the days of the flight or canceling it all together. As if doing that would be a FAVOR.

So, I actually asked her.....do you not offer anything for customer satisfaction to reconcile this situation? I actually have family in the Grand Cayman Island and will be flying their at least once a year, and them likewise here. We will continue to use you if you can make this situation better.

She offered NOTHING! I said, so basically you have NO customer service and you expect your customers to work around you and your needs. She apologized, unsympathetically. You could hear in her voice that she really couldn't care less that they had so drastically changed my vacation plans without notification. Unbelievable. She quickly got off the phone after her apology and told me to have a nice day. LOL! Also without sincerity.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

Needless to say, I will never fly with them again, and I want to warn others about their service.....if you were still to consider flying with them you better carefully monitor your flight itinerary to make sure they aren't changing your exotic vacation plans to a few days here and a few days there. Carefully watch the dates and times of flights. They aren't looking out for you!

Who knows where I'll actually be 4/30-5/6. I may have to give an update of whether or not they could keep the right itinerary within a week.

I see why you wanted Spirit!

Laura, I have no idea why you sparked my curiosity so much with your report, but you did! So I went to Delta and checked out your travel dates, presuming from Atlanta, as that is the only option listed as a departure airport for Spirit, and then also did the same on Spirit's website. I see by the price difference why you wanted to go with Spirit! Huge difference! But when it comes to things that I cannot' compromise on, such as departure and return dates, it just seems worth the extra money to go with dependable, reliable sources. It IS like a $500+ difference, I do realize that, and if you can shop around for a lower fare with a still more reputable airline, absolutely do it. But with Spirit - hmmm. What if you HAD waited till April 30 to check your itinerary? That's not outlandish for a lot of people, to not check until right before. It's outlandish FOR ME, lololol, and evidently you as well, thankfully. But having travel dates changed AT ALL, with or without my knowledge - not something I cotton to very well, and not a problem I've had with any frequency with any airline I've used. I do pay the higher prices, but the peace of mind, at least as much as one can even have with ANY airline, I can't put a price on my peace of mind. I am sorry your plans have been thrown into such uproar at this late notice, and I empathize with your experience with Spirit Cust. Svc. completely. They sound horrible, and I very much appreciate learning of this second-hand versus suffering it myself. But if this is how Spirit operates, they have done you a favor by letting you know DON'T FLY SPIRIT. Again, I truly am sorry for this horrid experience, but thanks for posting it because it is very valuable knowledge to have. Changing dates, AND NOT EVEN NOTIFYING THE CUSTOMER, that extends beyond outrageous and inconsiderate corporate policy. I hope you send this report to every executive, and everyone else, lololol, at Spirit. Ripoff Reports is a FAR FROM INSIGNIFICANT website to have such a terrible report show up on! Good Luck on your trip, I hope it all works out and you have a wonderful time with your family. And, again, thanks for collecting your thoughts well enough to let us all know about Spirit! That would be quite a challenge for me to do under the circumstances!
