I am under warranty with my sony laptop and I sent it in to Sony to be serviced. I have never dropped the laptop, and have never spilled anything on it, yet they said to me that there was liquid damage and that my warranty does not cover "physical damage". The LCD screen is the part being serviced. There were clouds forming and horizontal lines all over the screen and if you held the screen just right you could see what was going on. This is why I think there is a connection problem and not liquid damage at all. They said they would send me pictures, when, after they dumped water on it to prove to me what they are saying is true? I will not buy Sony again, for any reason. I love my Vaio, love it. It is cosmopolitan pink and works excellent, but a product is really only as good as what the company will do to keep its customers. If they will not stand behind their product, why should I? I have to pay 499.99 to have a laptop serviced that cost 899.99 to purchase brand new. I have five months left on my d**n warranty. I am not wanting anything but to keep you folks from buying something and assuming you will be treated any differently than I am. Just beware of counting on a warranty for anything, especially if Sony promised it to you. They will not even pay for the shipping to get it back to me, after the tech on the phone told me not to worry about a thing and that shipping and handling was covered in my warranty. I have to send the d**n thing all the way to CA ( I am in IN) and to be lied to right off the bat just kills me. Good Luck future and existing Sony customers.

My Sony Vaios are top notch PC's & on 2 occassions they sent repair men to my home. My oldest Vaio is 5 years old and has outlived almost every PC my friends and family have owned. A virus in 2007 rendered my desktop inoperable and of the 4 choices for repair I opted for on site and they were dispatched with the parts and software in 3-4 days. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER. I BUY SONY NOTEBOOK As far as Sony Vaio laptops and notebooks go I have owned 2. I broke them both and Sony kindly repaired one. Both offered the most advanced features, are light and stylish. While traveling I put my first notebook into my lugguage and the top and bottom of the notebood had broke apart when I arrived home I cant begin to explain how it could happen but not really Sonys fault. Next was the 2nd notebook I purchased to replace the first one, I set my purse on top of the notebbok during a presentation and when I opened it up and expected it to come to life the screen looked like a light bright mostly black with a few color spots. Dropped it off at Sony Style Store and repaired good as new. Ive owned 2 Sony Ericsson S710a mobil phones, after 4 years I decided to upgrade and bought a Sony K810 Cybershot and have been thrilled with its features but it has lock feature and the lock button becomes unresponsive more and more. Notebook and laptop users frequently are denied repairs. One of my favorite consumer sites has suggested someone take these laptops with supposed liquid damage in for forensic tests. If no traces of liquid substance can be found they are in for a PR nightmare. Of course Sony and I arent seeing eye to eye right now but its not due to Sony Products its over unauthorized credit card charges. good luck, nothing compares to a vaio but you know that.
