I'm not surprised by what I'm reading here. I used to work for this company and had to leave because of their unethical sales practices and overall lack of ethics and respect for the public at large. First off, the merchandise is all bought and/or made in China. There are NO name brand products. I really couldn't sleep at night knowing that I was selling a membership for products that really are not sellable in today's market. Most of the merchandise looks like it is poor quality, trinkets, no market appeal and honestly even difficult to give away as gifts. I worked for them, won some of the merchandise as prizes and my friends and family didn't even want any of it as gifts.

Secondly, SMC is an environment where sales people are poorly trained and incented to do whatever it takes to get your money. They do not care about someone's success rate or financial situation; they are simply compensated with taking every last cent you have. Their main call center is in central Phoenix, AZ. They employ people who have criminal records and many of the sales representatives either have addiction problems or have recently got on the wagon. This is another reason I had to leave the company. They don't care who represents them or in the manner they are represented, hence why you have been reading about their rudeness. These are unscrupulous people who simply want to receive their commission check for selling you. The sales management subscribes to the philosophy of BUY OR DIE. They treat their employees with no respect; continuously change the commission structure to incent the type of sales behavior described in MANY of these blog entries.

Lastly, how many awards has this company won? Do you hear about the owner much? Probably not, since the current CEO, Mark Schwartz is really not well known. If this is such a great product and he is genuinely is concerned about the success rates of their customers, why is this guy in hiding? A 60+ year old company that honestly hides behind their spokesperson, Tom Bosley. I wish Tom Bosley did some homework about his image and reputation that is being used to lure people to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a product that is really a LEMON.

If you are thinking about working for this company, keep looking. This is a horrible, unethical, boiler room culture. If you are thinking about buying a membership and any other upgrade, you are better off going to Vegas and spending your money there You actually have a better chance of making money in Vegas than on this business nightmare.

BUYERS BEWARE!}
