Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

The company claims to calla the DMV to verify if you're eligble to have an interlock device placed into your car, place you on a hold (while they are probably answering other poor consumers), then say you are required. I went to the DMV after getting the device placed into my vehicle, they stated it was never required and to go back to get the device taken out. When you call Smart Start, they then want you to hold so they can "call the DMV" again to verify, in which they place you on hold for hours with no response. What kind of person runs this company?

They have fees associated with taking the device out too....go figure. I wonder how many people fall for this that this goes unseen. They just throw money down the drain for a device that's not needed on their vehicle for months. I suggest to any people with this issue to call the DMV yourself and not deal with such a scammer.

I wouldn't be suprised if they don't have a refund guarantee for effing up like they did either......still on hold...

So you really want us to believe that you were just so bored one day you called up this company to ask if you needed an Interlock Device put on your car, and they just out of the blue said yes so you did it.

Yea...I think there are some pieces missing.

For one, the only reason these are ever required is if you are a CONVICTED drunk driver(or you took a plea bargin so are not technically "convicted").  The requirement as to if you need or don't need it would be in your sentencing/probation guidelines.  So what does your probation officer and courts say?

Because if you are found to actually be required to have one and are pulled over without it installed, you will most likely violate your probation and end up in jail.  Which (IMO) is where you belong in the first place...but since the courts gave you this very lucky second chance..so be it.
