When this device demands a sample while your car is in operation, it beeps and gives you five minutes to blow. When you shut your car off and get out of it, up to twenty seconds later the Smart Start can decide to demand a sample and start its countdown timer....when you're not even in the car and the keys aren't in the ignition. After five minutes it records you as having a missed test, which is a violation. Five violations and your car will no longer start. You must call the 800 number (if you can ever reach a human there you're smarter than me) to get a temporary code to take your car back to the service center where they charge you $100 to reactivate your car. DISHONEST SCAM.
