Complaint Review: Silversand Photography - West Orange New Jersey

After I had my son's birth pictures taken in the hospital, I was told that as part of a newborn package, that when my son turned 2 months, that a photographer would come out to my house and take pictures and that I would recieve a FREE 8x10. They said that this would happen at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months and again at 12 months.

When they came out to my house, the photographer was very nice and very professional and at first I thought this could turn out really good. Then I was told a representative was to come out to my house and show me the pictures in about 2 to 3 weeks.

After not hearing anything from this company for over a month, someone finally called me one day and set up a time for them to come out to my house for the viewing. We set up the time for that same day in the evening. They NEVER showed up. I tried calling the number that was left on my voicemail, they never answered. I kept calling and calling and a few weeks later, I find that she doesn't work with the company anymore and that they will be sending another person out to my home.

When that person finally showed up to my house, they were very nice (but maybe that's so they can scam more of my money) and showed me the pictures. I was disappointed to find that the FREE 8x10 was just a lie...and that I would get a FREE 5x7 instead. I thought maybe I was mistaken, but then I found that, they tell other people the same thing...a FREE 8x10. I was even more disturbed that the only packages that they offer is ONE 5x7 of each pose...and to order wallets or other sizes would cost me more!! I had already spent TWO HUNDRED dollars on the package I got, so I was not about to spend MORE money. I was upset at already spending 200 dollars, but they were my son's precious memories, and I couldn't bare the idea of passing it up, and missing out on my son's 2 month pictures (because by this time, he was already 3 months). So I went ahead and purchased the package, and since ordering extra wallets would cost me 24 dollars per set, I asked if I could switch out one of the less desired 5x7s for a set of wallets. They allowed me to do so, and charged it to my credit card and told me that they would send the wallets home in about TWO weeks.

About a 4weeks had passed and no wallets, and no word from the company, so I called them. They told me that they would arrive in my mail soon. After a month and a half, I finally got them (2 days ago!). The pictures were the poorest quality I've ever seen! The were nothing like the originals! They were off-centered and were WAY too dark and came out to be this orangish-red tone! They were completely horrifying! I called to see if they could correct it, and they said to send them back with a note of what was wrong (not that they would need it, it's SOOO clear in the pictures!!). Then I preceeded to ask..."Well how long is that going to take? Because my son is now FOUR months, and it is entirely pointless to mail them out to anyone, because it is about time for him to get NEW pictures taken!!" I wasn't about to wait another month!

I talked to a manager and she was just as uncaring as the other employees and just told me that they couldn't refund my money if I had sent back all the pictures in the package and instead said that they could refund me the cost of the 2 sets of wallets that I recently recieved in the mail for ONLY 12 dollars...HALF the cost of what they were going to charge me! I was so upset and I told them that for a cheaper price, I could've gotten much better quality pictures.

I'm going to send them back and take the loss...and I wish I would've seen all the other complaints about this company before I decided to trust this asinine company with my child's precious, irreplaceable memories!!
