I bought an item from Best Buy on 10th May, paying for it with my credit card - all that was fine. Then after paying them an advert/link appeared at the top of the screen saying something like "you could save extra 10% on future orders by using shopsmarter". I clicked on that link but did not go further, I certainly did not supply them with my credit card details. When I reviewed my credit card charges a few days later I saw that shopsmarter.com had charged me $1.97 on 10th May also. I reported that as fraudulent to my credit card company and got a credit for that amount.

Then one week later on 17th May shopsmarter charged me again - this time for $9.97. So I have cancelled that credit card and had a new one issued and the $9.97 is in the process of being credited to my account by my credit card company.

So I am not happy with BestBuy for giving my credit card details to a third party without my authority - which I would never have given. And I am not pleased at the amount of time and effort I have had to spend getting these charges removed from my credit card and go through the process of cancelling and reissuning a new card by my credit card company.

I am going to copy and paste this email and send it to the manager of my local bestbuy store and send a copy to their chat people.
