Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In mid 2003 I decied to go DSL instead of dial up for our internet connection. I ordered DSL through ourlocal telephone company SBC (formerly Pacific Bell SBC), after hating it for two months, I discontinued it. The next telephone bill I received had an extra $200.00 fee on it.

Come to find out, it was my fault, I did not pay attention to the third party verification company, as it did state that there was an early termination fee of $200.00. So, I said that I would be happy to pay that fee, well, not happy, but would pay it.

Then in either January SBC decided to start charging me again for DSL connection. Each month when I received my telephone bill, I would call and tell them that I did not have a DSL connection, did not order it and would not pay for it. Since, I had already had it once before and did not like it. I called the last time in the beginning of March.

This last telephone bill I received still had the $200.00 early termination fee. So, once again, I called and told them all of it, once more. They said they would talk to their supervisor and let me know. I had been paying anywhere from $100 to $200 in November, December, January and March. But yet the telephone bill is still over $500.00.

SBC put me on hold for over 45 minutes, yes, it was stupid of me to stay on the phone that long, but, for me to have a $200.00 charge is a big deal. When they returned to the phone they said "My supervisor said that "I" did order it and there was nothing they could do about it". Except to pay the entire bill of over $500.00 to the CPUC, Caliornia Public Utilities Commission, Consumer Affairs Branch, 505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, Ca. 94102. They would distribute the monies and let me know what the decision was. Well, before this happened, remember I had the two hundred dollars charge from the first DSL, and had a new balance from my daughter's boyfriend accepting some stupid collect calls. I

am a 44 year old disabled single parent living on Social Security, which is below poverty level. SBC will not even negotiate or talk to anyone without a crappy attitude. The date they said that I ordered DSL I was out of town for three days already and four more afterwards. I even told them that my dogs had been in the kennel. So, therefore, they could not have done it.

If any of you have an idea, I would appreciate your thoughts. You see, I was a victim of a credit card scam and through Rip-Off Reports guidelines, I cannot even call the company or the third party company, to start the process the guidelines tells us to do, to get my money back. Please, let me know what you think I could do. Thank you all.
