I purchased my RS261MDRS refrigerator in July of 2013. Within 3 years the ice maker froze up and broke the tray which I thought I was able to repair myself. It repeated this every 6 months but that was minor. Less then 5 years the cooling completely shut down (it never felt that cold since I purchased it). I contacted Samsung.com and was told it was only a 1 year warranty with no other information. I contacted a reputable repair service and was told it was out of freon and would cost more then it was worth because you don't know how long it was leaking and is very hard to find the leak and was part of the sealed unit and that cost me 100 bucks to find out. I was very frustrated and called Samsung again when I was then told that the sealed unit was under warranty for 5 years but they would have to send one of their service technicians would have to diagnose it and that would cost me 85 bucks. This is now a week without a refrigerator. Before the repair service guy even arrived he called me and told me it wasn't under warranty. After I told him that Samsung told me it was and that I know it's part of the sealed system that was under warranty. He continued to argue with me on the phone as he pulled up in my driveway. As soon as he walked in the door and opened the door to refrigerator he said it's not part of the sealed unit which I had paperwork from another technician that said it was. He laughed in my face and said it's not without even looking at it. He said if I pay him 85 bucks he would diagnose the problem. He opened a couple panels and told me it was the evaporator and refused to tell me it could be low on freon and told me the other technician did know what he was talking about but told me it would be 500 bucks to fix. At this point I didn't trust anything Mr Kim told me and was afraid that 2 weeks down the road it would break again because his attitude told me and my wife he was trying to RIP us off. I purchased a new frigidaire that was made and serviced in America. I contacted samsung.com again and told them what happened and they were very apologetic but I never heard from them again. Do not waste your money on a Samsung appliance ever they are junk.
