Due to a house fire took voucher for two beds to store. They only had one bed but it was electric. I asked a store employee if I could possibly have the one bed instead of 2 since it was a nicer bed. He told me to go back downtown to the main office and if it was okay with the main office it was fine with him. I also check with the store manager to make sure it was okay with her. She wanted to see my voucher so I showed her and she said they usually have a dollar amount on them but if it was okay with the lady downtown it was fine with her. When I arrived at the main office to ask her permission on the bed she told me the store manager had called and told her not to okay the one bed for two. Even though I had only $12 to my name the store manager caused me to drive all the way downtown only to call ahead to make sure that I wouldn't get the bed. When I offered to pay them whatever the difference was between a regular bed and the electric bed and let them hold the bed until I get my social security check next month she flatly denied my request. At this point I'm not sure I could purchase the bed for the asking price with cash money. The lady at the store was rude to me during the entire encounter. These people have no oversight. I challenge anyone to look up the state headquarters for the Salvation Army. I had a friend who work for them and he related to me it was a criminal enterprize. I think they should be audited for their 501 C3 status.
