Safeway Recovery Group Richard Murphy They called telling my husband pretending to be debt collectors on behalf of a bank with whom he had a previous account . New York New York
This scammer called my husband saying they were the debt collector in a lawsuit on behalf of US Bank and that they would basically ruin us financially over a 12 year old bounced check in the amount of $30.00. They told us we owed something in the ballpark of $5000.00 which would result in our bank account being frozen and his paycheck being garnished 25% until we were payed up... Unless that is we started payment immediately, in which case they would drop the amount to a kind and generous $1900.00.
My husband went into the bank to speak to them directly because none of what they said made any sense or e even was legal according to the best of our knowledge, to have our suspicions confirmed by the banks fraud Department. Sharing this story in the hopes of providing exposure to these people's dispicable attempt to scam a single income family with young children.
