Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After 3 months I had not received my fire extinguisher or carbon monoxide detector that I had ordered from Safety Technology. I started calling around and found they had left the Memphis area leaving no forwarding phone#. I also found out that the salesperson who had sold the products had quit because she was dissatisfied with the company and they were leaving Memphis area.

I left many messages for a return call to headquarters, Customer Service (what a joke, the phone is never answered by anyone, always the answering machine all day), the divisional vice president (TimMcAdams), and the reigional director (Julie Ann Dedovich). Tim McAdams finally called back I think because I called his private cell phone and he didn't know what it was regarding.

I told him the situation and asked for a refund. He said he would talk to the Birmingham office and check on my order. "I just want my money back." I said. I left messages with the corporate office that I want my money back. Within a few days Anna from corporate Headquarters called and said the product had been shipped that day.

When I received the fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector I found that this company lies about its products. Their Halon extinguisher is not UL (Underwriters Labratory) labled, the label reads: Use on type B and C fires, and it gives a warning of toxic by-products. I was told it was UL rated, puts out A,B and C fires, and it was not harmful in any way. The salesperson said it would be easy for children because it is so light.

There was no such toxin label on the demo they used at my house. When I received the product the label says: Warning: the concentrated agent when applied to fire can produce toxic by-products. Avoid inhalationof these materials by evacuating and ventilating the area. Do not use in confined spaces less than 165 cubic feet per unit. This company tells its employees to do demonstrations in people's homes! Claiming its perfectly safe!

Also, I asked what was the difference betweent heir $130.00 fire extinguisher and the ones that are much cheaper at WalMart, Home Depot etc. They said theirs were much more sensitive, was battery operated and much better quality. Well the one they sent eas a basic CO detector you can just about anywhere. WalMart for $30.00! The exact same model!

I was also told the halon fire extinguishers is recommended as better the non-halon in the retail stores. With the halon I was covered for all types of fires and would not need another type. Then I get the extinguisher and it says on the label: Use as first line of defense. Not intended to replace your rated extinguisher.

I have spoken to our local Fire Marshal and he said they do not recommend Halon in the home. He said only buy one with a UL rating, that will put out A,B and C fires and that a company needs a liscense to sell extinguishers in Tennessee. I wonder if they have one. I doubt it!

The salesperson I talked to said 2 weekes after she started seriously questioning the company about their business practices and products they abruptly left Memphis. She also had to fight to get paid.

I want a refund and compensation for my long distance calls and wasted time. I paid $269.79. I would like $300.00 refund. It is terrible the way this company treats people!
