On 10-29-2014 I purchased a 300cc Deluxe Touring Gas Moped Scooter from saferwholesale.com for $2,100.00  On 11-10-2014 I received an eMail from Tim Murphy, a Sales Manager at Great Sports / Saferwholesale.com, stating that the 300cc model was out of stock.  He asked me if I would be interested in switching to a 250cc model, and in exchange he would offer me a $25.00 refund for the price difference.  I agreed to the terms, and took delivery of the 250cc scooter on 11-21-2014.

Here it is months later and I am still waiting for the $25.00 refund.  I have called many times.  I have sent several eMails.  I have even reported this company to the BBB.  But, for all my efforts I have only increased my blood pressure.  In an eMail from custoner service on 12-15-2014, I was told that at refund check would be cut the next time the owner cut refund checks, which is normally done at the end of every week.  Now better than a month later I am still waiting.

I have reported Great Sports / Saferwholesale.com to the BBB, but this company refuses to even respond to their requests.  Basically, this company makes promises that they have no intent to keep.  I am on limited income.  That $25.00 is a lot of money to me, but I guess that there is nothing more that I can do.

The products that Great Sports / Saferwholesale.com sells may be decent products for the price paid, but in general the sales staff are all liars and thieves.  Customer Service is a joke, and no one will allow you to talk to the owner.

Save your money, and your health.  Don't buy anything from Great Sports / Saferwholesale.com.  Spend the extra money and purchase locally.  It is a purchasing decision that you will only thank yourself later for.

#2Author of original report

Sun, February 15, 2015

On January 22, 2015 I filed a report on Saferwholesale.com.  On the 23rd I created a five page document starting with a copy of the report that I had filed.  I then added a copy of the eMail that I received from Great Sport / saferwholesale.com and highlighted the part about the promised refund.  I then added a copy of my sales receipt.  After this documents completion, I proceeded to eMail this document to Customer Service at [email protected] and Sales Department at [email protected] several times a day.  I added on the cover page that I only wanted what was promised to me, a partial refund of $25.00.  I then proceeded to fax the same document with the same cover page to the sales department at (815) 531-3513.

After 3 days, 23 eMails, and 14 faxes, I received an eMail from Saferwholesale.com stating that a refund was on its way, with a picture attachment of the check and envelope that was being sent.  I decided to trust them and stopped all eMails and faxes for a total of ten days.  On the 5th of February and after not receiving this check in the mail which should have only taken three days, I started back up with the eMails and faxes, but added at the top of my letter:

“It has now been 10 days (or more) since you claimed to have sent this refund.  I can send a letter to California and it only take 7 days.  To me it is obvious that you not only did not send the $25.00 check, but that you had no intention of sending it.  Like I said before you have lied to me for the last time.  I know that me continually sending Great Sports / SaferWholesale.com eMails and faxes is not only aggravating to you, but is a waste of company money as well.  But, I am prepared to do just that for as long as it takes for you to finally get the message that you cannot continue to lie to, steal from, and abuse people.  There are currently a total of 70 of your customers that have filed complaints on www.ripoffreport.com.  Complaints dating back to August 26, 2008 that claim  “Bait-and-Switch”, “Unusual Rip-Off”, “Rude Service Personnel”, and “Deceptive Trade Practices” just to name a few.  However, I will stop my eMails and faxes once I’ve received what was promised to me, a partial refund of $25.00 for the price difference between the 300cc that I originally purchased and the 250cc that I accepted and took delivery on.  But, this does not mean that other agencies have not or will not be notified.  Agencies like:

-The Illinois Attorney General's Office at 312-814-3580

-The Department of Consumer Services (Chicago residents only) at 312-744-9400

-Small Claims Court at 312-603-5626 (Cook County) or 815-319-4500 (Winnebago County)

-Possible legal action"

The next day they called me and started calling me names and making threats, trying to intimidate me and cause me to back off.  I responded by adding this to the top of the eMails and faxes:

“Because of previous good will statements made by Great Sports Inc. / saferwholesale.com about promising to mail the refund check on a specific day, and those statements obviously false, I have no choice but to continue to believe that you are still lying to me.  If you were a truthful and honest company, you would have automatically put a trace on the mailed envelope to find out why I had not received it, instead of calling me names on the phone with threats trying to intimidate me.”

Still on February 6th they eMailed me and said:

“We do not need to put a trace on it.  We know exactly where the check is.  Our mailing office was out of stamps for a week or so now and the check was in their pile of envelopes to be mailed as soon as the stamps were replenished.  Our owner took your check out of that stack and put it in the mail today.”

I kept up all the eMails and faxes.  On February 9th I received my check.  They had blocked eMails from two addresses.  They had turned off there fax machine several times.  But I guess ultimately after only 33 completed eMails, and 21 completed faxes, they got the message.  I was prepared to keep it up for years if necessary.  After all, it wasn't costing me anything, and I thought of it as a game.  A game that they did not want to play. This is just one way that you can get your refund.  Multiple eMails and faxes cost the company money, and is a very big aggravation and inconvenience.

There are other ways to get their attention as well.

Be creative.

Be persistent.

Stay within the law and it might just work for you too.
