Safelite Auto Glass Poor Workmanship Houston Texas
First off, they had to re-do it several times as it whistled while on the highway, an obvious air leak, which spoke volumes about the company I was dealing with.
Upon windshield removal the headliner was hacked with a carpet-type knife, and I was told don’t worry it happens all the time.
Fast-forward several years and another broken windshield. This is what was found; the window trim was removed and replaced with aftermarket trim, they drilled holes and secured the trim with sheet metal screws because it did not fit right, they did the same when attaching the rear view mirror. Instead of removing all the appropriate parts, many were bent back for the install and gaps filled with urethane. It has been leaking ever since due to their shoddy work, so now it’s all rusted.
After many hours of repair work; super-excessive urethane removal, sand, primer and repainting, I finally got a new windshield … installed at twice the initial cost.
So if you think you are saving money by going with Safelite, think again. They do not care about your vehicle and they care even less about what happens in the future as a result of their poor workmanship, which is how they can get it done in minutes versus the hours it takes a qualified replacement company to do the same work.
You do NOT have to go with your insurance agent/claims rep’s recommendation, be your own advocate, do your homework.
