I been looking desperately for work for about 2 months,I even got to the point that even with my working experience I started applying at macdonalds,walmart,target etc but did not get calls from anybody.Tue the 2nd of april 2013 I saw an ad in the Lowell sun newspaper it said 600 dollars a week guaranteed!

So I ended up calling and spoke to a Mark Philpatrick 603-498-2804,he told me to come in today for an interview. When I got to the plaza I did not see a office sign with the company logo but when I was about to leave "wich I should of right there and then" I saw this sketchy office with a bootleg logo in the door smh,so I went in spoke to Mark for a little but while I was doing that I noticed the office was empty no secretary no personnel.Mark did not even look at my resume he just told me to call him back at 630pm and he would give me an answer wether I was hired or not.

When I called he gave me the congratulations spill so I started weds for orientation training.There was about 13 new employees with me,that made me think that maybe it was not a bad Idea to work with them.Mark started his training with a very unusual style,if we had a question he would avoid it and say that he would respond anything at the end of the meeting wich he did not.He stated that we would make 600 a week regardless if we did not sell because that was our salary but in order to get the 600 dollars we would have to make 15 demonstrations a week but that the telemarketing dpt would get the appointments for us,so I thought at that point that it made sense and that  it was a realistic quota.

He also mentioned that as part of our training that we would need to get 5 appointments to get used to the way these vacums work, to get more familiar with them "they game me the impression that these practice demos was part of our training just to refresh our minds of what they were teaching us to  use it on the real deals" so that night I semi filled they'r list I ended up filling it with some of my family members.When I got there thurs half of the new employees were not there now we were about 9 of us.We still had our doubts on how they actually paid wether we were self employed and even how these lists are generated to get the sales,Mark kept his secretive style going avoiding any legitimate questions we asked,

he even had a new assistant manager assisting us but he did not want him to answer questions wich was odd,he even made him look like a dumb a*s a few times telling him to be quiet etc. we even went to a smoke break and the assistant manager happened to come from lunch and he was trying to talk to me.He told me not to be discouraged by Mark that he is an a*****e but that hes a consultant from N.H that he will not be there for long,as he is telling me this Mark walked out of the office and called him in ina very secretive manner.When we came in Mark told us not to talk ask him questions that if we had any questions to ask him.We got more training on how to use the vaccum and went home.

Today I went  in and now we were only 6 of us! lol today is when they really told us how it really was,the 5 practice demos were basically sales leads for them so now when the real owner saw my list hes asking me why I did not put times on the appointment list and asking if my mother was a homeowner wtf? At that point I told him that I was under the impression that I was just going to my mothers house just to show her what I was working with and just to basically refresh my memory with my family members during the weekend,I ended up signing some paper work got the  vaccum and went home.

A few hours after Scott Haseltine 978-226-5420 (owner) calls me and tells me that alot of people were complaining about Mark and that he got sent back and that I would just have to deal with him.I told him that it was very misleading to tell us to gather 5 contacts to try to sell when he said it was just only training,he started sugar coating things saying that the was almost true I was really disturbed so I ended that call and kept thinking all day on how can I sit down with my mother that has been helping me all my life and try to sell this pricey vacum (it goes for about 2k) my mom still gave me her advice saying just go for it that she was proud of me that she was not going to buy it but just to do the DEMO to help me out.

Part of the demo is to call Scott right when you start and then to call him 2 hours after the session to let him know wether my mother bought it or not.When I called him and explained to him that my mom was impressed by it (wich she was) but however my mom couldnt afford the payments he kept going and going trying to scam my mother,at this point I felt like s**t because this is my mother we are talking about,and I really just wanted to tell him to go and pound some sand,I lost it went to the bath room and told him how misleading they are and how all they do is cut you off so they can get they'r point across,jesus i never met any company that would cut you off so much when you are trying to say something its like they can care less what you say,

I just told the guy that I wouldnt have a problem if I was doing demos from the appointments they would give me but not like this and he said that were did I think that the referals came from? from us..this is were I gave up and told him that I was just going to bring the equipment tomorrow saturday.I know that im not going to get the 150.00 for the traning they gave me and the time I wasted by all the blogs ive been to,they all mostly sound similar but what ever, thats what I get for not doing my research but in the other hand im a hard worker but companys like kirby and american income life are evil they would care less of your financial situation they just want to hire you and exploit you.

I will admit that the kirby vacum is phenomenal but they'r sales practices are awful,they lie to the customers telling them that they will get a free vacuum so when you go to the customers house you will look like a dumb a*s because they only want you to vacuum bits and pieces of different areas of the house and you cant use the bag unless the customers buys it so do the math.I also saw today the telemarketing dpt and it was just one lady lol she had one bell on her desk wich I assumed that is to use when she gets an fraudulent appointment and the funny thing is that I was there from 9 to 2 and I only heard it once smh.

If you found this because you got an interview with them DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME unless they change they'r practices,and if you are a former employer sup or what ever from kirby be very careful with what you are going to write here if anything come see me,meet me in lowell mass and say it to my face and see what happens =) bunch of assholes be straight from the beggining,I notice that alot of kirby members read these threads and throw they'r 2 cents mocking people,stop lying, you guys are all shady,wether is the van scam you guys have dropping ppl off so they can knock door to door leaving them alone or just what I went through the moral of the story is that they are not honest they are rude and they will cut you off and not listen to you this was not only with me but with the whole class.Listen to the experiences and dont to it to your self.Good thing I only wasted a few days and half a tank of gas.
