Rugs Direct - Winchester Carpet And Rug And Rug Only taking out 6% Federal taxes for wage withholdings Winchester Virginia
I worked with this company for approximately 7 months. (3 months through a temporary service). Upon being hired full time, I noticed that for two weeks of wages (80 hours @ $10.00/hr) I was only having approximately $33 - $45 per two weeks for Federal tax withholdings.
After my accountant reviewed my check stubs for 2004 to date, she told me that I really needed to "nip this in the bud" before it is too late.
She then gave me a form marked for the company administrator that handled this information and he told me he could not enter it into his system. The only way I could get another 9% taken out for Federal Withholdings would be to figure what the difference was and have that additional money taken out.
Not to mention, he was just as ignorant and unhelpful to me. He later approached me with some kind of ancient relic (a Federal tax booket that showed they only needed to pull 6% out for Federal tax. That would have been in the 1950's I presume, figuratively speaking.
What kind of crappy software is this. I have worked for 2 other companies that I never even questioned the tax portion of my check. Also, how many people have more F.I.C.A. tax taken over the Federal tax portion? NONE.
I later found out that this company downloaded the "free" software off of the internet. I am not the only one this has affected. Everyone there is concerned. I mentioned to the President of the company my concerns and he stated he would look into it.
Also, I just recently spoke to another employee that was fired in Dec. 2003 and she is a single mother, living in subsidised housing and had to pay $1,000.00 to the IRS due to her Federal Wage Withholdings not being processed correctly. She is ever scared to death to file this year for 2003. Now that is sad!!
Beware of these small family owned businesses. They are not safe or secure and when they don't have a Human Resources department, don't take the JOB!!! Don't make the mistake I did.
