Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had the absolutely worst experience of my life with Bank of America while opening an online small business checking account. I applied for an online account with BOA and I submitted all the paperwork They requested. During this exchange with Bank of America they were quick to respond via email and I was pleased with that. On September 12, 2014 I recieved an email stating my account had been opened.

A day day later I called Bank of America and verified the account was open and I said I would come by the next day and fund the account. On September 14, 2015 I called Bank of America to find the address of their closest location to my home and the phone agent informed me my account had been closed. I asked why and she said Bank of America didn't give a reason and their terms state they didn't have to give a reason.

Ive never been denied a bank account before and I was curious as to what had happened so I asked to speak to her manager. I was transferred to someone in India who was rude and who spoke over me and that person eventually transferred me to Rosa Rey, who said she was the Vice President. I have two credit union accounts that I've successfully maintained for many years, but as I'm moving back to my home state (which is where i incorporated my business) I was told that because my business was incorporated in a different state than my credit unions they would not open a business account unless I incorporated in their state. So that's why I called Bank of America. it is a nationwide bank.

Rosa Rey, the Bank of America Vice President was immediately hostile and belligerent. She stated Bank of America didn't have to give me a reason for suddenly closing my account. I had met all of their requirements. She didn't care. She yelled at me during our exchange, was flippant, and just a very nasty person. I was taken aback by Bank of America. i had not expected to be treated with such disregard. My business is based in a very low income area of Mississippi, a very rural area and an extremely under banked area. I was concerned that my zip code would cause problems for me. I understand that Bank of America was sued for a practice called 'redlining' where they look at zipcode demographics and make business decisions based on discriminatory motives. However I knew my credit was good and I had nothing on chex systems, so this treatment of approving my account and suddenly closing it without notice or warning Without providing a reason bothered me. I was left to assume it was because of my zipcode which is high minority and impoverished.

Back to Rosa Rey -

This woman was so offensive and so nasty several times she threatened to hang up on me. I just informed her that Bank of America had been so responsive setting up the account and I couldn't understand why they closed the account without so much as an email leaving me to find out the account was closed when I was on my way to the bank to fund the account. This was just terrible. Rosa Rey stated to me that a letter would be mailed (still with no stated reason for the account closure) and she sounded so obnoxious and so arrogant it dawned on me that she was on some sort of a power trip. I actually told her that Bank of America was not the only bank and I would not bank with Bank of America even if they changed their mind at this point.

Rosa Rey informed me my account was closed the day after it opened so I'm scratching my head as to why I just recieved an email from Bank of America stating my debit card had just been mailed. Three days after my account was supposedly closed. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at that bank. I'm disgusted with bank of America. Fortunately for me I've opened an account with a small bank in my home state and even they couldn't understand why I was treated with such disregard by Bank of America.

Bank of America has awful customer service. Just awful. What a nightmare experience.
