While I was away serving my country in the middle east, my sister read an article about Dr Robert Lefever and PROMIS Recovery Centre. She'd been having some issues with alcohol and depression. I was her main support when I was home and she was coping okay. Sadly, she called Lefever's helpline where they said she could go in for a free assesment. However, far from being free, the ultimate goal was to extract as much money from my sister as possible. The following day, she was pressured to go her bank by a member of Lefever's staff where she withdrew two thousand pounds to pay for one week of "treatment" at the PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent. This escorting to the bank happened every week for six weeks until my sister's savings, all she had in the world, were almost gone. Robert Lefever, wanting more money, insisted that my sister find more money to complete her treatment, otherwise she would "likely kill herself" to use his words. Robert Lefever posts on his blog about another patient who did not wish to have further treatment with him. He told this lady, someone obviously suffering from mental issues that her illness "can turn violent". Surely, this is wrong to say such things to people who are suffering with mental issues and it's all designed to manipulate and extract as much money from people as possible. In desperation, my sister gave Lefever a cherished family painting which she wrapped in a blanket after being escorted to her flat by Lefever's staff.

After my sister's money was all gone, she was discharged from "treatment" without any aftercare or support. Robert Lefever, himself, posts on his blog that if people don't have money he's "not interested" in helping them. My sister was now completely drained of money and very depressed feeling alone and ripped off. I am very sad to say that she took her own life just three weeks following "treatment" at Robert Lefever's clinic, PROMIS Recovery Centre, having never made a suicide attempt before.

Robert Lefever is a very dangerous and cruel man, indeed. I am posting this so that other families can post their experience with this liar and thief, Lefever, as I'm quite sure my sister has not been the only one.

Just take a look at Lefever's friends: one of whom, Richard Bandler, was accused of murdering a women by shooting her in the face. The weapon was Bandler's and there was blood spatter on Bandler's shirt . Bandler was one of two men in her home when she was murdered. Bandler was known to draw his gun on people during his "teaching" sessions. This is a man Lefever refers to on his blog as "the master".

I am Dr Robert Lefever. I have had no connection with PROMIS since November 2008. PROMIS is owned and run by my son, Robin Lefever.

I work independently in London. I do not recall anyone called Dawn ever working for me in the time that I ran PROMIS. I presume that she worked for my son.

Please avoid any confusion between myself and my son Robin.

I am Dr Robert Lefever. My late wife and I founded The Promis Recovery Centre in 1986. I ran the group therapy sessions and oversaw the medical care at weekends. My wife ran the family groups. In all our years of running Promis, we took no income other than reimbursement of our professional expenses. We worked in London during the week. Our son Robin Lefever was the managing director from 1995 onwards. He had responsibility for all administrative matters. He took over all aspects of Promis in November 2008. I have had no connection with Promis since that time. I work independently in London. I write my blog in my own name.
