I rented from them and it got to the point that on the day to renew my agreement as early as 10:00am they would start with the courtesy calls. I would get up to 3 on the day of my renewal. I would say HELLO - I just received a courtesy call...and god forbid I'm not home....I'd get the courtesy call on my cell phone. I don't need to be harassed from anybody. No other company including Colotyme works like this. ......and they have the nerve to be hiring account managers in New Jersey. The situation is going to go from Bad to Worse. Your situation I can understand a little, but you do have options. You could have let them know ahead of time or even wrote them a letter. Still in all, your paying late has no bearing on ED being IGNORANT and MEAN to you in front of your kids. That part is what has you upset and there is no reason for the ignorance.

Let's start off by saying dirty undies in the night stand is really gross and obviously an oversight by someone but has nothing to do with your problem, if it did you would've made anissue when you started your agreement a year ago. Brace yourself I'm going to tell you something I don't think you know. You are renting the merchandise not buying it. You have three options and they are, make renewal payment, buy out merchandise at a cash price or return merchandise. We all have hard times here and there but this does not entitle us not pay our bills. You signed a legal contract between yourself and "RAC" to either make renewal payments, buy out at a cash price or return PERIOD

My name is Roland. At the present time, I have been an Account Manager working at Rent*A*Center for about three months. Part of my duties is to update the Past Due reports on a daily schedule. Past due reports are active accounts with customers who have signed a binding Rental Agreement with Rent*A*Center. There's no clause in the Rental Agreement that states the customer cannot disconnect there home phone, personal or buisness phone that they disclose in the Rental Order, after signing the Rental Agreement. It is primarily the I/O Manager's responsibility to ensure all references are checked from prospective renter(s) prior to having customer sign a Rental Agreement. Account Manager's are supposed to give a courtesy reminder call to customers from Past Due Reports on there first 3 or 4 Rental Payments only on the day that the customer is due to make a payment. If customer, has already made there scheduled payment on time, then we, as Account Managers are not suppose to call customer asking for another payment. At this time I can say for myself, that I have made late payments to my creditors. I always keep a line of communication with my creditors! Sure, I have caller ID too, and when I recognize a phone number on caller ID, I decide @ that moment if I want to anwser the phone, or send the caller to my answering machine! I believe any lessee who agrees to a legal binding contract with a lessor, and fails to make a payment on time, has to accept the consequences by paying a late fee. And by the way... making a late payment is OK, as long as an additional fee is paid for making a late payment, if stipulated in a binding contract! I believe what draws the line between two parties who agree to a contract is when lines of communication are broken from one of the parties. In my personal opinion, it's called 'stealing'! I'm not suppose to think a customer is trying to steal from Rent*A*Center, when I call there residence on a first payment due, and there home phone is suddenly not in service? I call there references, and there reluctant to help me, or there phones are also not in service? Finally, I'm put into a position to call customer @ work? I find out my customer has recently quit there job, after signing Rental Agreement; To our valued Rent*A*Center customers: Account Managers are required to make courtesy calls on all first time customers, whose first payment is due on there Rental Agreement. After customer has made 3 or 4 payments on time, then we'll stop calling you. When a customer stops making payments on time, then guess what? We'll start calling you again! Remember, there's no obligation to buy our merchandise. If you can't affort to make payments for any reason, just call Renta*A*Store where you signed Rental Agreement to have us pick up our merchandise. I really find it bizzare, when we call to confirm customers residence, income and references from customers Rental Order, and all checks are OK. Then, when customer is due on first Rental payment, we have no success in finding where our merchandise is @, or finding a way to communicate with customer? In my past experience working for Rent*A*Center, I have had several customers from my past due reports, who have had similar circumstances, I've just talked about? I'm not suppose to think these customers have stolen merchandise from our store? But, they did. I believe the majority of these Rip-off customers give any kind of business a bad rapport. Peace out!

First let me say that Rent-A-Center or any business does not have the right to be rude to their customers. They should be respectful, but stern if need be. With that said. I am sorry you are on disability and/or out of work due to injury or illness but bottom line is that Rent-A-Center is a business attempting to make money and it really isnt their problem. If you cannot pay, for whatever reason, then you should return the merchandise. They are calling and demanding money because you have their property and are not paying for it! I would get a bit upset and continuously call someone if they had my property and was not forking over the cash agreed upon on a weekly basis. Rent-A-Center does not HAVE to work out anything with you. A contract is a contract. It might sound rude or harsh but that is the flat truth. You agreed to pay them for their furniture if you cannot uphold your end of the bargain, why are they required to let you slide? Are they family? Close friend? NO they are a business that cannot make money if they are not getting paid. Again if you cant afford the rental agreement return the merchandise and find furniture somewhere else. You are not getting Ripped Off if anything you are trying to Rip them off by wanting to keep the furniture and not uphold your end of the contract and make the scheduled payments! One more thing it amuses me that you attempted to slam them for giving you a bedroom set with underwear tucked inside the reason I find it amusing is that IT COULDNT OF BEEN THAT GROSS IF YOU ARE STILL RENTING FROM THEM! You cant play it both ways.
