We are a sales agency in Atlanta, Ga.  Haley Spain with Rendezvous hired us to sell their products to independent retailers on a commission basis.  In our agreement that was signed by them, they agreed to pay us commission, as well as a showroom fee of $5,250.00 to help cover the super-expensive rent at AmericasMart-Atlanta ($43+ per sq ft annually).  We normally do not show a line that hasn't yet paid the show fee prior to the show, but they kept telling us that is was on the way.

At the Atlanta Gift Show in January 2017, we wrote 88 orders that totaled $30,837.42.  We held the orders for a couple of weeks after the show in hopes that the show fee would show up.  We released the orders to Rendezvous as not to upset our customers.  Our customers came to us and placed orders, so we felt it was unfair to "punish" our customers by preventing them from getting the product that they wanted.  

After numerous unanswered emails, phone calls, and texts, trying to collect on the show fees, we sent them to collections.  Our collection agency takes 30% of whatever they collect.  In the contract that they signed, it stated that any collection fees would be added to the total amount.  We sent them to collections for the showroom fees, commissions owed, AND the 30% additional for the collection agency.  Our sales reps deserve to be paid for all of the work that they performed, but we cannot pay them until we get paid.  If we didn't add the 30% for the collection agency, then our reps would have to get 30% less.

Haley & Ethan Spain would respond to the collection agency sporadically, but it was lie after lie to the collection agency.  Our sales reps would call them to ask when they were going to get paid, and the Spain's would tell our reps (if they took the calls) that the agency was already paid, and that WE were not paying our reps.  Haley & Ethan would then laugh at the collection agency and say that they didn't owe anything.  Now, they have just stopped answering any calls from certain area codes because they can't take responsibility for money that they owe us.

I wish this story was unique, however, a sales agency in Dallas was simultaneously experiencing the EXACT same thing at the EXACT same time as us during the January Gift Show in Dallas, Tx. 

Rendezvous has screwed many of our customers by charging their credit cards and not shipping the order or only shipping parts of the order, as well as making a custom towel for a customer in Tennessee and spelling "Tennessee" incorrectly and refusing to remedy it.  

We just recently got a phone call from a different sales agency in Las Vegas that just signed a sales agreement with them. GOD HELP THEM!

They are running out of venues to sell their products.  Atlanta, Dallas & Vegas are the big 3.
