I find it funny that every comment posted about this company has a common thread running through it, deceit and lies abound.

I worked as a sub-contractor for this company for approximately seven years. I worked for an installation company for a number of years, and have had my own installation company for three years. In addition, I've worked at various locations throughout the southeast including, Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee. So, my comments are not limited to one particular store. They all seem to operate the same way no matter what part of the country the stores are located in.

As a sub-contrator, I was subjugated to a number of unethical business practices by RFW. These include, but are not limited to, disclosing correct or full information to the customer regarding installaion of their products and any additional costs to be incurred by the customer, shipping used products as "new", shipping products other than what the customer paid for(ie: paying for true one inch slate on a billiard table and receiving slate that was seven-eighths inch thickness--if you bought a billiard between 1996 and 1998 check your slate, there was true one inch slate on the market at the time, and chances are you paid for it but didn't get it--or worse, receiving three-fourths inch slate, and just plain outright lies.

On my end of things, I was constantly expected to fix product defects, such as leaking filters and incorrectly sized liners, for free, or at a fraction of what these repairs would bring in the normal market. In addition, I was to provide a 90 day warranty for my workmanship, which I happily did. However, it quickly became apparent that this "workmanship warranty" was applied to every problem whether it was my fault or not (ie: broken parts out of the box on product that I didn't even deliver). Essentially, I began to work for free. Their view was "we give you all this work, you should do this for us in return for the work." Okay, I'll buy that, but only when it's one or two instances, not with 90% of the products. In addition, the moral dilemma of supporting their fraud and lies for the sake of making money just doesn't sit well.

I could go on and on with the horror stories, but I've wasted enough of my time with this company. A word of advice to those who purchase with this company: exercise your options. You may pay a little more from a smaller outfit, but you will get the customer service you expect and a company that will stand behind their product and not "pass the buck."

For sub-contractors, I feel your pain.

John, Your last line states to purchase items somewhere else where they can receive better service. However, the reason why they were sending YOU out is to take care of their important customers. I could not agree with the other rebuttal more. If you knew a company was like this, why stay with them for 7 years. It's a shame you have to bite the hand that fed you for such a long time. There must have been some bad blood between the 2 of you. I hope your have a different position in which you will not throw your present employer under the bus at some time. Ed

I have had the pleasure of working with Rec Warehouse/ Leisure Bay Industries for over 17 years. The reason I am responding here is because this complaint against them is complete bull crap. I have worked in the west central Florida in 10 counties and 4 differant stores. This company always goes the extra mile for their customers. They fullfill all of their warranty coverages and then some. They have always treated me and any other subcontractors that I have known with respect and have never been late with any money due to me for the services I provide. The products offered by this company are of the highest quality for the money and they offer products for all levels of incomes. Anyone should not allow a disgruntled former worker to slander the name of a company that works so hard to remain at the top of a very competitive industry. It sounds like the major problem here is that we made you go on service calls and did not make the customer pay for these.... Every major retail product is going to have problems when you install them there is going to be problems with them. You worked for the company for 7 year, went to 7 different states. Yes we will ask you to go out to a customers house for free even after 90 days we make exception to apease the customer. If you didn't like it you should have stopped working for the company after 7 years and found something better. You take the good with the bad. It must not have been to bad to stay 7 years. I'm sure you got fired and now have hurt feelings. You had no obligation to the company and could have left at any point. I think that shows we actually go above and beyond for our customers knowing that they are passed the labor warranty and we still cover it. As far as the reports go we dont have much considering we've sent out millions of items. I look at it as a few complains and millions of satisfied customers who did not post on this web site. Our ratio is pretty good. This company fed you and your family for 7 years how about thank you for paying my bills.
