I was a housewife and mother, looking for a new career. I was registered with an internet job searching agent. I was contacted by Glen Smith a receptionist for Receiver Corporation-division of Computer Associates for a customer service position.

I Went to the interview to see Chris Price an Employee Development Manager. The interview was great untill a detail was mentioned. To start I had to put a deposit down for $450.00 for software from Computer Associates.

I was given three days to make a decision, in which I took the time to check their creditability. I was given two web sites. One for Reciever Corporation and one for Computer Associates. They checked out.

Upon returning for the second interview and giving my deposit, I was then an official employee. The supposed paid training was done at home on my personal computer.

I passed the training on Microsoft Word and Excel with flying colors. I then e-mailed them to say I passed and was ready for employment.

I was shocked to find out that there was a second step. I was then given software from Computer Associates on the Innaculate IT program. It is a program designed to protect your computer from hackers. It also monitors employees from a single mainframe controlled by the employer.

I went over the information, studied, and took the test. I also passed this test with flying colors.(per them).

So you can see why I was shocked again to find out there was still another step before being paid for training plus my refund of deposit.

I now had to take the answers from my last test and contact potential clients using a list they gave me to try and sell this software set. The list consisted of fifty elementary schools, high schools, and colleges.

Everyone knows that schools are on a budget and have to get approval for all purchases from the district office. These decisions are made at the beginning of the school year only, said one of the potential clients.

So I tried my own method of contacting businesses in my area. I was denied on all cases. I went to Chris Price and explained the difficulty of this assignment and I was told no money untill three potential clients were found.

I worked my butt off trying to get the appointments so I could atleast get my deposit back, if nothing else.

I started growing weary of my decision when I decided to call Computer Associates themself to see if Receiver Corporation was an affiliate of theirs.

To my surprise a Marketing Manager called me back. He then told me that after some research, Receiver Corporation was not working for them, as far as he knew.

I then went back to the offfice in Chicago to find out that they moved down by the loop. They left no forwarding address for the bill they owed on the suite they were renting, and no phone numbers to get in contact with. The phone numbers we had, are now voice mails only, no live person. My e-mails are no longer being answered and I am furious.

I spent three months on a job to find out that there was no end. My family was hurt, I was deceived, and my time was wasted. I could have been looking for another job when the market was better.

I have tried lawyers, they cost too much for a case that I don't know if I could win. I tried on my own, but don't know where to start and don't have the money too.

Now I am out the $450.00 software deposit and $2250.00 for paid training. I have all this in writing yet I don't know what to do with it.

The best thing right now is to be able to let other people know, so they won't make the same mistake I did.
