I WAS ONE OF THE CUSTOMERS THAT WAS PRESSURED INTO TAKING A CRUISE BY RAMADA RESORT IN MARCH OF 2000. BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A ONE TIME DEAL AND I HAD TO TAKE IT THEN OR LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY. TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN INEXPENSIVE CRUISE, I OBVIOUSLY TOOK THE BAIT AND CHARGE IT TO MY CREDIT CARD.

SECONDLY I BOOKED THE TRIP BECAUSE THEY MISREPRESENTED THEMSELVES AS "THE CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE" AND BECAUSE I HAD PLANNED TO TAKE THE CRUISE THE FOLLOWING YEAR ON A HONEYMOON.

WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE RESERVATION AND ASKED MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRIP AND CRUISE, I FOUND OUT THEY WERE NOT THE CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE AND THE SHIP WAS A LOT SMALLER THAN THE REGULAR CRUISE SHIPS. I WAS TOLD I COULD UPGRADE TO A LARGER SHIP FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST. BECAUSE WE COULD NOT AGREE ON A PRICE I CANCELLED THE TRIP AND PROMISE TO GET BACK WITH THEM.

THE NEXT MONTH THERE WAS ANOTHER $700 CHARGE TO MY MASTER CARD. I CALLED THEM AND DEMANDED MY MONEY BE CREDITED BACK ON MY CARD. I DID NOT GET ANYWHERE THEM AND I DID NOT KNOW WHO OR WHERE TO TURN TO FOR HELP. THEY TOLD ME WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE UPGRADE I AUTHORIZED THEM TO CHARGE MY CARD ANOTHER $700 PAYMENT WHICH I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE I DID NOT DO.

AS A RESULT I HAD TO CANCEL MY CREDIT CARD AND PAY OFF THE BALANCE TO PROTECT MY CREDIT BECAUSE I COULD NOT PROVE I DID NOT AUTHORIZED THE SECOND PAYMENT AND THE COMPANY TOLD ME THEY COULD CONTINUE CHARGING MY CARD BECUSE I AUTHORIZED THEM THE FIRST TIME.

IT BEEN THREE YEARS AND I STILL HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CRUISE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHERE OR WHO TO TURN TO GET ALL OR SOME OF MY MONEY BACK. IF YOU CAN ASSIST ME IN ANYWAY I WILL APPRECIATE IT.

Van, Write letters to the District Attorney in your state,and to TV Stations in your area that have a consumer reporter.Let them know what's going on so that the public will be aware of it. I had a problem with Carnival Cruise Lines I wrote to the DA's Office and to my Local TV Stations.The DA's Office Forwared my Complaint to the Attorneys Generals Office. Hope this info helps,GOOD LUCK!!!!
