Once again I received a call from a ficticious number {1-000-000-0000). a recorded voice says: This is your captain speaking. You have just won an all inclusive cruise to the Bahamas free. Click one and we'll ask you some questions. The questions consist of your age, how often you use your visa debit card or other credit cards, etc. Since we don't have Visa debit cards in Canada, that gives them away. The call, in my opinion, originated with..guess who? Ramada Resorts.

If you have read my previous postings, you may wonder why I bother. There are two reasons. 1. These people are committing fraud against Canadians. They wouldn't get away with it in this country, but American laws are weak, and it surprises me that the State of Florida is allowing these people to continue to operate with seeming impunity. 2. This company is doing untold damage to the Florida tourist industry. Florida has become the laughing stock of Canada because of schemes like this, as more and more Canadians are choosing vacations in Cuba, the Dominican Republic and even Mexico rather than risk their wallets in the land of the free and home of the fraud.

What the State of Florida hasn't told you is Canadian Tourism has dropped sharply, even though our dollar is on par the great American buck. And, this so called "Travel" company should be banned from targeting Canadians. I have contacted my phone company and they , along with the fraud squad of the Halifax Police Department, are tracing this fictitious phone number.
