"The conversation ended with us STILL being in negotiations...". "We never said we didn't want it". You never said "WE WANT IT, WE'LL TAKE IT" either. How many ways can one person beat around the bush? I guarantee, If the salesman HAD and walked away to assist some other customer you'd be posting about that. You're known in the retail world as BE-BACKS. I'll be back when......in your case; the price, our budget, the taxes and licensing issues from Oregon to WA, your ins co. all these facts shouldn't have mattered IF you were REALLY interested in buying the frickin' vehicle you would have PUT some MONEY DOWN. Money talks...... You're just pissed cause someone bought the vehicle while you were jerking around.

"The conversation ended with us still being in negotiations; or so we thought! We never said we didn't want it! "
Being in negotiations doesn't mean a thing. Since you didn't put any money down on the deal, the seller has zero obligation to hold the vehicle for you. If you were the seller, would you reject a solid deposit in favor of someone who was just thinking about buying? " We never said we didn't want it!" is not the same as saying "Yes, we're going to buy it".
Your expectations were completely unreasonable. Without commiting any money to a deal, you should never expect a seller to reject other offers. Doesn't matter if it's a car, RV or a house. It all works the same way.

You just cannot please some people. I agree with most of what this customer reports. However there are some points I wish to explain and clarify from my point. The original motorhome was listed on our website still because it had a $2000 deposit on it subject to the customer from Hawaii approving of it when he arrived here. We don't consider it 100% sold until it's 100% paid for and the customer takes it away. This motorhome was advertised for $9950. When I called Dawns husband and told him about the other one,,Yes I told him it was nicer and I told him even though we were pricing it higher,,we would be willing to sell it for $9950,,same as the other one. Dawn and her husband (sorry forget his name) looked at the motorhome,,asked lots of questions, and I tried to answer the best I could. Yes,,other customers were there,,and YES,,I told her I am with you. There was another salesman there who was also busy. I've been in this business as a salesman and sales manager for many years and THE proper thing is to stay with the customer you have,,not to run around and try to help everybody,,but to stay with the customer who is making you an offer. Am I wrong here? Did she really want me to leave them and help everyone else when they were wanting to buy it?? They offered me $9000. I told them that price would not buy it,,BUT that I would make a phone call to the owner to and present their offer. I did and he told me the price was $9950,,,and I told them. They said they would go home and think about it. I asked if they wanted to leave a deposit to hold it they told me no. I told them we had several calls on it and it would sell quick. They still declined to make a deposit. and they left. I will break in here to say that under Oregon State law if a vehicle is advertised for sale it must be available for sale unless it is sold. To be sold there must be a purchase order signed and money exchanged. Now, being the "lazy" and apparently uncaring salesman,,I stayed late and spent an hour and a half going throught the motorhome and starting and running systems and appliances to see if everything worked for sure,,normally we have a technician do this and we assume it will cost about $500 to get any motorhome ready for delivery,,if we have to fix anything. The motorhome checked out very good,,so I called my boss that evening and told him I didn't think we would have to fix anything or spend money on it. He told me to call them in the morning and offer to sell it to them for $9500 then. I called them Sunday morning and asked if they would pay the $9500. Oh yeah,,he told me all about his budjet,,tax and license. I asked how much was tax and license,,,he said about $800. I told him then all he needed was another $300 then. He told me "No I can't do that and our conversation ended. HE DID NOT SAY "let me think about it". Now maybe I am mistaken,,but when he said he couldn't do that I assumed the negotiations were over. AM I WRONG??? About an hour after our conversation,,the other salesman who works here recieved a phone call from a fellow in Canada inquiring about the same motorhome,,,which by the way was advertised for $11950. The fellow offered $10,000 and put a $2000 deposit on it over the phone with a credit card. Now an hour later while I am with another customer he showed up on the lot with a friend,,apparently to show the motorhome. I excused myself from who I was with and went and told him it was sold. And YES I walked away,,,I WAS angry,,,I have many years doing this and it still makes me mad to lose a deal. I am paid on commission,,no sale,,no pay. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make em drink. These people are pissed off and slandering me because THEY were either too cheap or too stupid to know a great deal when they were offered one. Oh,,,and you are right we don't PAY the BBB to give us a rating,,so we don't belong. As far as 4 complaints in 3 years?? Not bad when you consider over 700 customers sold. 2 unresolved? How do resolve a situation like this with someone so one sided and unreasonable. You are free to ask about this. I'm not hiding. My name is Dan Meade. Phone number is 360-356-8004.
