I'll be bypassing the first month for a dollar ripoff and continue to the next complaint which is NEVER lose your key to the $21.00 lock you were made to buy when you first rented your unit, because if you do, you will be required to buy another lock I was told there is only one key and now I have to pay $21.00 AND wait 2 weeks for their boss to come out to the unit and snip my lock off. So now I have to rent my storage for another month and pay an extra fee supposisly because i have the only key. The real truth to this matter is one day when they can get off their lazy butts, they will go to a key making place and spend a couple of dollars and get a copy of the key they have and give me another key to the lock that is already there.

Everyone knows when you buy a new lock that they always suppky 2 keys to that lock. In fact, I got them to show me a key just in case I overlooked it at home, and lo and behold when they did this, they showed me a lock with 2 keys attached to it! This proved to me they do have a spare key and they are making extra money off of my negligence. I don't know if there is a way around this or not, but by reading other complaints, I now know Public Storage is not consistant with their rules across America. Maybe knowing this much I might be able to get around this stupid money making scam?! I think we should start a class action lawsuit is my answer. Hey, $20.00 may not be much for some people, but for me it's a lot at this point of time.

I can tell you exactly why you are in this situation and why $20 would be a lot of money to you at this point and time.

Because I would be willing to bet that when YOU do something wrong, you do NOT do the mature and adult thing in taking responsibility for YOUR actions.  You look around and find out who else you can blame.  I would also bet that you would be the type of person who runs out of gas on the freeway and instead of taking responsibility for you not filling your tank you would start spouting words like "Class Action Lawsuit" for the manufacturer who failed to make the little gas light on your dash more obvious so you didn't know you were almost out of gas.

In the end this case is NO different.  YOU lost your key and all of the sudden they are ripping you off.    They didn't force you to "misplace" your key.  Seriously, it is time to put your big boy/girl pants on and say "Yes, I lost the key, and am willing to accept the consequences".    Until you learn that very valuble lesson I can just about guarantee you that you will be in "this point of time" for a long time to come.
