Providian National Bank Credit card cancellation ripoff abused & mistreated ripoff business from hell cheated employees and screwed the customers even more ripoff business from hell abused & mistreated ripoff ripoff arlington Texas ....

I thought it was just me. It is amazing what you can learn on the net. On September 3, 2002 Providian sent me a letter. NOr suprise there since they often send me something informing me that they are giving me a larger credit limit. I have had several since I got the card three years ago. Instead of a limit letter they informed me that they were closing my account. I was incredulous.

I have ALWAYS paid this account on time and never the minimum. The reason they gave was "You have one or more credit accounts that is/are currently delinquent, or show a major derogatory event(such as having been charged off or at least 60 days past due) I have had no credit issues at all and am truly surprised at this letter.

I called the 800 number but the lady was rude and only asked me if it was in relation to a letter I received. The operator (and his supervisor that I asked to speak with) could not give me any information and only said I should contact customer service. No one seems to have any information on this and I don't know what to do. I have never had anything like this happen to me with a credit card. Is there any redress on this?

I've had dealings with Providian also. I have a credit score over 800. They cancelled my credit

card with them also. I can tell you exactly why they cancelled your card! Like you I always paid

on time. They don't want people who pay on time as such people are not paying them late fee's.

over limit fee's, etc. Providian does not want customers that pay on time. Providian's credit card

program is set up to squeeze  FEE's from cardholders. Providian's credit card program can't make

the kind of money their business model's revenue projections are set at.

Long story short-- they do not want people that pay on time as they don't make a fortune off these

people. They do want people that have bad credit who usually pay late--- FEE'S--FEE'S--FEE'S FEE'S

Thank you for taking the time to read my posting.
