I carry full coverage on 4 vehicles through PROGRESSIVE Insurance which is carried by Progressive Northern Insurance Company.

In March of 2011 my dauther was hit in the rear bumper by another student in Edmond, OK where she is a Senior at college. The person that ran into her carried SAFEAUTO car insurance and eventually sent us a check to repair the scratches in the rear bumper of the vehicle.

In September of 2011 whe again was hit in the rear bumper by a guy in a white pickup. The driver of the pickup convinced her to leave the scene of the accident and pull into the parking lot of a IHOP next to where the accident occurred. She called me her father and told me what had happened. When they pulled into the parking lot of IHOP the guy in the white pickup that ran into her drove off. Of coarse ny daughter didn't get his tag number. After scolding her for leaving the scene of the accident I told her to contact the Edmond police department to get a police report on the accident.

I contacted PROGRESSIVE immediatley with the details and began the claim process.

2 months later I start receiving phone calls from a Jennifer Hess in Florida requesting receipts, photographs, or statments proving that I had repaired the accident from March that SAFEAUTO had processed and paid for.

I have never taken photographs of a vehicle after it has been repaired. I have plenty of them before the repair but none afterwards. I have never had to take or provide pictures after 34 years of carrying full coverage insurance on any vehicle.

I have no receipts of the repair either because I had my nephew buff out the scratches on the bumper after the March accident. The only thing to verify the accicent occured is the check stub from SAFEAUTO.

On 11-26-11 I received a notice from PROGRESSIVE from Jennifer Hess with the claims department that the claim was closed and no payment to be made because I couldn't provide her the photographs of the rear bumper of the vehicle after it was repaired.

To make the matter worse I started looking into another company to carry my insurance with and found out that PROGRESSIVE is now listing my daughter as the AT FAULT PARTY in this claim.

How in the world is this her fault if the guy ran into her and then drove off? The police report also states the same.

Can you help? I feel by law we have to carry insurance on our vehicles but there is very little support for the customers when these companies take advantage of their customers.

Yours Sincerly,

John

Sorry about your situation

I want to say i'm sorry about your situation. First thing is that you have to understand that due to consumers commiting fraud against insurance companys (all companys) there is no way to show the vehicle was repaired. I can understand your frustration but there is no way for the insurance company to know if the car was repaired or not. Bad thing is to many poeple lie which then screw the good people like you who tell the truth. Second when you shop for insurance and a new company pulls what's called a CLUE report 90% of the time fault is not reported so the company pulling the report has limited information to go off of and can only interpret the report. The same thing happens all the time with Progressive, that's why with our quotes there is a dispute option to have underwriting review the claim to make sure the information is write. Progressive most likely did not report it to be your daughters fault just the new company is reading limited info. Just call Progressive and they will tell you plus most likely send any info they can to your new insurance company about the claim and the fault %. Even though I do work for the company and I know I see all sorts of posts from employess where the consumer writes it off because they assume we would all lie. I know insurance sucks sometimes but what I'm telling you is the truth. I know this does not help your situation but I don't want you to be frustrated. If you have any questions, post them here and I will try to help.
