A year ago our family switched insurance to progressive Insurance because they advertize that they offer the best customer care and that they do the shopping for you to find the cheapest rates. After we got our first policy and declaration pages our policy suddenly changed and we were paying higher premiums during the second month, when we confronted Progressive they said that it was because they didn't receive proof of prior insurance. We resent the documentation, every month it was something new that took place and our policy kept changing and the premiums kept going up. A year later my son turns 18, Progressive issues us a notice saying that our insurance is increasing from 261.00 to 648.84. I called and questioned this, we made some changes to our policy and requested new billing to be sent with new policy information this never happenedd. My son got pulled over for a cracked windshield and was actually ticketed for no proof of insurance. When my son went to court the judge told him that he would need a letter showing dates of coverage. I called progressive and specifically told them on May 7 that my son was pulled over and that the court is requesting they send in a letter with proof of our dates of coverage (I had notice of renewal but not Proof of insurance card),I spoke to Bill who is supposedly a Supervisor for the company and told him that I called and spoke to a young lady by the name of Michelle on May 18, 2004 requesting this documentation and asked her why I hadn't received new Proof of Insurance Card and wanted to know if I was even covered because I had received nothing with the new changes to the policy that we made on April 7, 2004. Bill said that they had a tape of that conversation and that he would listen to it. After 15 minutes of being on hold he told me that I was told that I did not have coverage, I told him that I wanted to listen to the tape, they refused to play the whole thing for me and only pulled out 2 sentences of a 5 minute conversation. Bill refused to help me and do what I ws told that they would do for me. I asked for a copy of the tape and was told that it was their company policy not to release the tapes. My son will now have to go to court and tell the judge that Progressive will not provide the proof of Insurance. I spoke to Shawn a second Supervisor and she basically told me that they refused to help me and said that this is my problem and they can't do anything. Progressive does not care and they have no morals and are not out to save their customers money. My son has to pay a $1000.00 and we now have to get new insurance. Even though I have made every monthly premium payment. Beware a wolf in sheeps clothing.
