I was also a "target" of the Primerica insurance agent recruiting efforts. At the end of the day, it is an insurance agent, regardless of what any brainwashed Primerica reps tell you. My father works for Prudential and alerted me to their tactics prior to going on my first "interview for a management position in which I would help Primerica open offices in Chicago, and train many people." They thought that based on my resume, I might be a great candidate. Positions avaiable were up to $100,000 a year - which I was led to believe were salaried positions. Nothing was said about commissions. I asked what the salary was - he stated up to $100,000 a year.

I also read the rip-off report about an hour prior to driving out to Oak Brook from downtown at 7PM on a Monday Night, and I left them a message stating I would not attend. (this report saved me alot of time and frustration).

I was a management consultant who had trained CEOs of Fortune 500 companies on executive communications and negotiations. I was also the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of a software Company for 2 years. How did I fit their profile for an entry-level insurance agent? First of all, their resume screening process is horrible.

Yet, more importantly was the way they enticed me to come to one of their "interviews". I feel like I'm a pretty bright guy, and this guy "sold" me that they received my resume from a web site or a recruiter, and were really impressed with my management and training experience. He really stressed they were looking for "upper level management" at Primerica, and were interested in people who could help open up offices. At this point I had my resume out to a few executive recruiters attempting to place me as Vice-Presidents at 2-3 companies, so I figured he got my resume from one of these recruiters and sold me on "the management angle". I was gullable, because it was believeable, I was interviewing for management positions all the time.

Its hard to believe, at the end of the day, I was going to sit in a room with a few other unlucky bastards as we sat and listened to a sales pitch my own father has given me since I left high school.

I know that the language they used was precise and they were probably very careful that they wouldn't be held liable for deceptive business practices. Their lawyers probably gave them a script, and said, technically "you are not lying outright". But all in all, its a pretty unethical way to attract recruits. What a desperate measure. I would never buy another product or service from Primerica / Citigroup, etc. ever again, and would encourage others to do the same. Avoid these guys at all costs. Unprofessional and unethical come to mind. If you dont mind working an environment that is unethical and unprofessional, than I would encourage you to call Primerica immediately.

I am not affiliated with Primerica but many of my closest, and MOST successful friends are.  They are some of the finest and most faithful Americans I know.  You may not like the apporach and may not see yourself in this business but know this, with all of your fancy positions you still worked for the "Man".  You know it, you went on vacation when they allowed, your income was ultimately controlled by them, you more than likely kissed their a*s in order to keep your paycheck, and you were often frustrated with the lack of fulfullment in your life and career.  Were this not true at some level, you would have never even began your trec out to see them.

It's fine that you have the opinion that you do and I hope you have found a place of fulfillment now.  Just know that you will never know the fulfillment that Mike Tuttle, Randy Godfrey, Kim Carver, Bill Stewart, and many others know.  They have not only helped thousands of middle income families make better financial decisions and no doubt accumulate more net worth but they have also helped hundreds of Men and Women realize a level of success, both professionally and personally. Far more than all of the "MEN" you have called boss will in a lifetime, combined!

PRIMERICA IS A SCAM - NOTHING MORE OR LESS

To those employed by PRIMERICA who love to sit on this site and review and respond to the HUNDREDS!!! of complaints about your scam I say this: Why do you bash whole life yet your parent company Travelers sells it. Why do you bash credit card companies when 17% of the entire American credit card debt is owed to PRIMERICA's parent company Citibank and Travelers. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE RUNNING OFF AT THE MOUTH SPOUTING INFORMATION YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. Face it people, you rip off others and provide one of the biggest scams in all of America. Preying on lower middle class citizens offering them hope and pressuring them into your scheme. Yes, your pyramid scheme that blankets itself by another name. Your term policies are worse for the consumer than whole life policies offered by REPUTABLE insurance companies (I say this and I don't even work in the insurance business). You sit in your little gatherings being BRAINWASHED into stupidity by your so-called distric reps who spend days gathering little excerpts about the industries' other scam artists so that you can tell the world the entire industry, with the lone exception being PRIMERICA, is out to ruin the world with whole life. If anyone working for PRIMERICA had a clue they would question why their boy A.L. Williams (the creator of the scam) almost went to prison for violating so many securities and exchange commission laws before he changed the name of his company to PRIMERICA and eventually went into seclusion. To anyone interested in PRIMERICA, I beg you to do a lot of research before you get scammed like so many others. No, not on PRIMERICA's website but at sites like this: http://www.angefire.com/ny5/ misleadbypfs Good day to all and give peace a chance. And do the right thing for yourself and the rest of the world by not doing business with PRIMERICA.

Email Seems Reasonable

I just wanted to add a comment that the email sent in the message above seems fairly polite and reasonable. I would like to know what responce you received when you called them. I am familiar with Primerica and respect what they stand for. I have found that some agents get aggressive and deceptive in trying to build thier business. I have been involved parttime for about six years and have made moderate amounts on a parttime basis. I think I try to be ethical when dealing with my clients and recruits.

I recieved the following email and have just started to research. I came across this site and just wanted to add this. To: Lloyd H From: Carolyn E. Ward Date: Jan. 17, 2003 I recently accessed your resume on Hotjobs.com and thought you might be keeping your career options open and may be interested in learning about the Primerica Opportunity. While I'm aware that your goal is to find a traditional salaried position, working with Primerica Financial Services, a division of Citigroup, could give you the challenge of building your own future. I am developing locations in your area. As a Primerica representative, you could help families learn how to become debt free and financially independent. We offer a plan for success, comprehensive training and perhaps best of all, you're free to work as much - or as little - as you'd like. So, you have the option of working part time initially to supplement your income and deciding later if you want to go full time. If you are interested in learning more, I would like to sit down and talk with you about our company and our compensation system. Please call me at 630-891-0240 so that we can schedule a day and time for you to come by our office. Best regards, Carolyn Ward, Division Manager Primerica Financial Services

Primerica Is A Rip Off ..caving into to the Primerca's blackmail tactics

#6UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, January 01, 2003

I don't think I my story is much different from anybody else's that is posted on this web site, but I think I will let you all know what happened to me with this company. About a year I was working at a conveince store in Atlanta, GA. I was working the night shift and this guy wearing a suit came in and bought a cup of coffee. When he was paying for it he asked me how much money did I make and how many hours I worked a week. When I told him, he told me he could make me a millionare in 10 years. Now, for someone who is working a 80 work at $8.50 an hour, that is music to their ears. So, I asked him how, and told me to come to a meeting at this bank downtown. So, I called in sick the night of the meeting and went to it. When I got there, there was all these people milling aroung this guy named "Al". Then they shut the door and Al went to the front of the room and started talking about how 3 years ago he was a bum living on the streets of New York begging for money for food, and now he was the richest guy in the Atlanta area. And all he did was sell insurance to people. After Al spoke they had 3 other people say some sad story about they were living in financial hell, and after they joined the Primerca team now they are richer than everybody else in their mansion neighborhoods. So, they then told me that to join their gang I would have to give them $200. So, I took my life savings out of my matress and gave it to them. After a week of following this geek going door to sell old people this insurance I was quickly knew that this was a rip off and that I didn't want anything to do with it. So, I called Al, and told him that I thought Priermca was a rip off and it sucked. He told me to meet him at a hotel on the edge of town later that night. When I got to "Honeymooner's Inn" that night Al had 4 of his goons drag he into the hotel room, when I was in there him and his goons gang raped me repeatly. Then there was a dead hooker's body in the closet that they took out and put it the bed next to me and they started taking pictures of me beside this corpse. Then Al said that if I didn't go back out and try to sell insurance to old people that he would turn the pictures into the cops. So, rather than caving into to the Primerca's blackmail tactics I went to a gun dealer where I bought a double barreled 12 gauge and went back to the hotel where I shot them all in the knees and cut off their hands and feet. To make sure that the doctor could not sew them back on I put their hands and feet into a wood chipper. After all this time I will never forgive Priermca, they made my life a living hell. -Tom
